Removing the Phone Cradle?

Hey guys. Not sure that I am going to use the phone cradle in the arm rest. Besides the fact that the 80k car doesnt actually come with the cradle part for your phone.

Anyway, I removed my parents in their X5 recently and it tripled the size of the compartment. Has anyone done this or tried?

Looking for some insight, before I start ripping my arm rest apart!

Thanks,
D

If you did it in your parents' X5 then the process should be the same for the M3. By the books, however, that base for the cradle can't/shouldn't be removed.

It's actually very different. The X5 had a little cover panel that popped off to reveal the screws to start the process, but this one doesn't look so easy...

Good call. I'm not sure you have much space to gain by removing the base unless you make your own bin that fits in there, or buy the filler piece that goes there if you don't get the base.

I just hopped in an F80 and that little bin where the AUX and USB connectors are just pops out. I couldn't see any easy to access fasteners from there, but if you poke around under there you may be able to find some.

Cool thanks. I'm wondering, do all cars have this? Or was it part of a package? If some cars do not have it, how deep is that area? Maybe I can order that bin?
