18x7.5 Square or 18x7.5/8 Staggered or 18x8 Square for OEM Wheels
I'm considering buying a set of OEM wheels for a potential winter set, but not sure what setup to go with. I currently have the staggered 18x7.5 and 18x8 wheels with the M235i.
I know the consensus will be not to run staggered tires so I'm not looking to start that discussion since I know the end result, however what about the wheel sizing? Would it be better to buy a complete set of 18x7.5 or a complete set of 18x8 or would it make sense to just get the original mixed combination? |

Only reason BMW does staggered set-up is for wider tires on rear, you don't want that for the snow of DC. I would be running 7.5 all around with 225 winter radial. That worked for me for snow climate in WA state. Another key is having LSD for ability to have both rear tires splitting the power.

I have a staggered set of style 385 as these are more available 2nd hand hence cheaper than oem 7.5" all round.
I've use continental winter contact, square all round 225 40 18. No complaints. |
