E90 328 engines noise at idle?
Im just wondering if its normal for the N52 engines ( 328xi) to be noise when you start the car. Its like a humming noise coming from the front right side. I find it more noticeable when the cars starts and it start dropping rpm (to 600 rpm).
I can not really tell the noise with the windows close but I was underground with the door open and I was able to hear it. I ll try to post up a video maybe |

I think it has to do with the fan . I went back and tried to record it but the noise was gone. The fan was on when I heard it so it may just be normal , or maybe the alternator is working harder and the noise is coming from there...

"wind" noise can be the radiator fan (starts and stop randomly, but steady noise otherwise)
the AC compressor turning on (is actually on the right side of the car) will make all sorts of clics and clacks when starting, then make a constant ziiiii or simply the engine grasping air when you accelerate (changes with RPM, obviously), which is normal (and cool if you ask me) or a vacuum problem (sounds like a whistle), easy to check, open the oil fill cap with the car running, if it is super hard to open and the whistle stop, you have a problem, otherwise not. I think what you hear is normal and you worry too much . |

i notice after my 15min interstate commute (live and work right off the exits), that when I'm cruising the parking lot, i can really hear the fans blowing. at first i thought something was wrong, but since its consistent, i haven't really thought about it. could a dirty air filter or bad radiator cause the fans to be running excessive?
