Bl**dy launch control!

Well again last night I tried to get launch control to work after an 8 mile drive, with the engine fully warmed. Gear in M1, sport mode on, DTC light on the dash.
Came to a stop. Left foot breaking. Pressed the throttle but feel the car pushing against the brake. Decided to lift off. Don't want to mess it up. I never see the launch control flag?

Do you have to press these things on in a sequence? I always drive with sport mode, but I switched the DTC button on. I nearly always drive in semi-manual mode as well.

Do you have steptronic or DCT?
Steptronic doesn't have launch control

Gear stick pushed into DS.
Select M1 via the gear stick or paddles.
Select Sport mode.
Press DCT. So that DCT is shown on dash.
Press brake.
Press accelerator past the full throttle point. You will feel it go over a resistance point.
As soon as you go over the resistance point the revs will jump from the 1500 to 6500 approx and the flag will appear.
You can do it straight away again without driving any miles unlike the handbook says.

I had a 335i with DCT.

You are doing everything correct except.

Traction must be fully off - hold DTC button in for 5 seconds.
and
push pedal to the floor, past resistance point (as said above)

The revs go up really quickly so you have to be quick to let the brake go, but it's worth letting it go to 6500 first. My car used to go forward, but sort of sideways as well.

Have fun!

I've read the manual but I still can't get it to work.

For a 335i with DCT you have to press the DTC once so it lights up on the dash. You don't fully disable it. People should take care. If they fully disable it and go heavy on the throttle they may end up in a bush.

Honestly, if you don't fully disable it, launch control won't work.

I know, I've been through the same frustrating process in my 335i DCT pre-lci as you have.

You're right, driving a 335i with traction fully off is mad. So just do your launch in a straight line on a wide empty road for about 50 yards, leave £20 worth of rubber on the road, then enable traction again.

No. But you have a torque converter so you can just hold the brakes and rev the engine to launch.

Il give that a go later i thought the power would overide the brakes

Possibly can do, I think the torque converter will prevent that though as it absorbs a lot of the energy.

It's a DCT and it has the instructions in the manual. It just doesn't seem to work.
