What's the best tint I can get?

What are my best options? I'm not too concerned with heat reduction honestly. More for the look. How dark is too dark? Would 20 all around be too dark?

I think the best is Spectra PhotoSync. I got that on my 2. You can watch Youtube videos on how it works and how well it works, it's almost like magic. There's a few youtube videos showing how much better just the 75% tint is compared to limo(5%) tint. The only thing is it costs $$$. I got 75% front and 55% on the rest of the windows.

75 and 55 is dark enough. How much if you don't mind me asking?

I'm a big fan of Huper Optik tint but it's only a 35% so it may not be what you are looking for.

That looks good, but I would need darker for sure. Lol.

3M Crystaline is by far the best if you can justify the cost. No need for super dark tint with that stuff!
The limo look is outdated and ghetto anyway

bit of a contradiction... 75/55 is going to be much lighter than 35. Ceramic tints can be lighter as they reject heat much better than a dye based tint. That super expensive Huper Optik is probably going to keep your car as cool as a much darker tint.

I think the % goes by visibility. 75% tint = 75% visibility. I don't like dark tint so I went for a lighter tint. But I went for the Spectra Photosync Ceramic for its heat reduction and IR/UV rejection.

Here's a video of how Photosync works vs Limo tint. It's like magic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uppEGWJi0Jw

It will run you about $250-300 for the front windshield and maybe $500-650 for the sides and the rear.

I've attached a picture of my car below. 75% front and 55% sides and rear.

To answer this question. Limo would be the darkest. 5%. I have a few friends that have it all around their car except front windshield. It's crazy dark. 20% would be perfect for you if you think the 35% needs to be a little darker.

Do you get any headlight glare at night with the windshield being tinted? Any other downside to tinting windshield?

Where in SoCal can you get this stuff? I can't find it anywhere.

No headlight glares. Everything looks absolutely clear, except in some instances at very specific times of the day(angle of the sun towards you), at near sunrise and sundown, if you look at the sky it has a very very faint translucent light pink/light blue effect. Very trippy and cool. But I seem to see it less now that the tint seems to be drying up completely.

I got them at Fresh Window Tint over here in Santa Clarita Valley. But they have 6 tint locations around So. Cal. They usually do high end and exotic cars daily, so they can be trusted. You can also check out their work on Instagram fresh_window_tint

They also have Huper Optik. I was asking the owner for the best one and he said Huper used to be the best, but now it's Spectra Photosync Nano.

20% is definitely too much for white m235i. i am going for crystalline 40% (the darkest they offer). another thing FYI, my recent film on my old car (335i) seems to interfere with my polarized sunglasses in a bad way - color shades and texturized film through the glasses. i wonder if anyone experoenced the same or maybe my old car has cheap film on it? for this sole reason I am not going to mess with tinting the whole windshield.

It's true, I get the weird colors with polorized sunglasses and the Llumar Air 80 on my windshield but I would still highly highly recommend it if you live in a place that gets hot in the summer, which I'm sure Miami does. It make such a difference...I had my car sitting out in the Phoenix sun today for a couple of hours and it wasn't miserable inside. It was still hot of course but you didn't burn your hands touching the steering wheel like you do in a car without windshield tint.

good point, but i mostly park inside. i am too worried about that "compatibility" problem with my favorite glasses, which btw do an awesome job removing a glare from just about everything :-) i also want winshield to be as transparent as possible. so, i guess i will leave it as is fir now. maybe a strip at the top, but thats it

Talk to Hann @ STM Films, he's the guru when it comes to window films.

I did. All he pushes is the Huper Optic.

Correct, Hann recommends Huper Optic.

Check out Steve's Z4M next time you get a chance at the track. Hann did the film on his car, you can see if you like it beforehand.
