19" BBS RI-D

Hi all! I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. My F80 hasn't arrived and already have the mod itch going. I have already gotten the Akrapovic exhaust and diffuser and am now looking for wheels.

How will these RI-Ds fit on the F80?

19 x 9 (et22)
19 x 10 (et25)

Would I still need to get spacers? If so how much spacing will I need?

I'm hoping to get either the BBS RI-D or FI in 19" to fit with the wheels flush against the wheel arches without the use of spacers. Do any of BBS' RI-D or FI offerings in 19" allow me to do that?

Finally, anyone know if I can replace the BBS caps with original BMW ones?

Couple of vendors have already done wheel fitment test with BBS wheels. Search the wheeltire section of the forum. But to answer your questions, the wheels will fit and depending on what you consider "flush", you'll have to run a spacer.

I believe you cannot re-use the factory BMW caps with any BBS wheel.

Thanks for the reply. Personally, I prefer the additional width of the FIs, but the rear seems to be too aggressive.

19 x 9.5 (et28)
19 x 10.5 (et23)

I'm not keen on putting spacers, but BBS just doesn't seem to have anything in between for the rear.

The cars are just out, wait a few weeks (months) and BBS will have some better offsets for the F8x!

Agree. That's probably what I'd do. Really don't wanna deal with spacers if I can avoid it.

Should I go with these RI-DS:
F: 19 x 9 (ET22) / +7mm
R: 19 x 10 (ET25) / + 15mm

Or wait for BBS to come up with 19" RI-Ds or FIs that are .5" wider that'll fit the F80?

Just wait for the additional width. We should have room for a 19x10 up front and a 19x11 out back. If you buy now, and BBS does release a better fitment, you are going to be stuck with the wheels. Also, I don't think it's worth it to go lighter and not go wider. These cars can use more grip for acceleration!

BBS will begin development on F8X M3/M4 specific fitments ASAP, but I would expect to see them for at least 3+ months.

BBS is not going with a 19x11 they will keep 19X10.5 with a higher offset.

Also, 19" FIs might not clear CCM brakes.

275 for 400ft-lb of torque is definitely a weak setup by BMW

They are starting to work on it this week/next week in Japan - but i would honestly expect to see an F8x Specific fitment in at least 4-6 months.

The offset is too aggressive, adding spacers will make it even worse.

offset is far from too aggressive. people are running 15mm spacers f/r with still little wiggle room to go more aggressive.

Are you saying a 19x10 ET25 with a 15mm spacer still has wiggle room? A 19x10 ET40 with a 15mm spacer may still have little wiggle room, but not ET25.

I believe member Tightie ran 20mm f/r spacers so yeah 5mm wiggle room 😛

That is on OEM wheels, not the 19x10 ET25.

Now I'm a little confused. I agree that 19 x 10 (ET25) + 15mm spacers will be too much, but shouldn't the 19 x 10 (ET25) without spacers fit nicely?

7mm or 5mm Spacer in front w/ 19x9(et22) with a 255 tire is good
No spacer in rear w/ 19x10(et25) with 275 tire is good.

If ur lowered(hr) or stock, should clear.
Pick up a set of bbs RI - don't wait.
Ur good to go.
I would think the bbs center cap would look very nice.

Choice of wheels involves criteria that can be at odds, hence it is important to assess priorities: performance or looks?

BBS RI-DS are great wheels -- lightweight and good looks.

The sizing is complex. The 'good looks' criterion = flush with fenders. But this may seriously impair handling. Suspension & chassis dynamics are extremely complex. If 'performance' is your primary criterion, best not to mess with stock M3 set-up until knowledgeable folks like Harald (HP A) test out the options. Offhand a slight increase in track accompanied by weight reduction is likely to be OK, so the 9.0 22 / 10.0 25 are pretty close. Wider wheels = heavier; maybe OK for drag racing, but not good for overall performance. I would avoid spacers unless there is a specific spacing need for performance, unless you are just interested in boulevard cruising -- if so, why a M3... ?

I really do not wish to use spacers on these wheels. So I'll have to live with the 5mm gap.

Anyone can verify whether the 19" RI-Ds will clear the CCBs?
