Anyone ever done an interior swap?
Looking to see how many people have any experience with doing an interior swap.
I'm looking to swap mine for someone else's and want to know as much information as possible about it. And before anyone asks, yes, I've searched. It seems like its done but not talked about as much as other things. I'm basically wanting to do a complete interior swap with someone for my black dakota leather interior for someone else's interior, but I don't want to go into swapping the carpet, dash, and headliners etc, so it must be an interior with black carpet and dash (terra, lemon, saddle, oyster) My car has sport seats that are heated and power, with fold down seats in the rear. Anything in particular I may need to know about any of that? Any information is highly appreciated! Also, if anyone reading this is interested, please let me know! Willing to meet up to do the swap. Yes, me and another member of the forum traded interiors last month. Everything was smooth and straight forward except for the rear seat. We discovered that he had rear fold down seats and I did not, but that wasn't the issue. The problem was that the fold down seats had an extra bracket that needed to be transferred to my car, but one of the bolts on the bracket had been completely stripped. It took forever to get it off, but once we did everything was a piece of cake. We did all the work ourselves and only spent money on some extra door clips that broke off when removing the door panel (the cheap plastic ones). Highly recommend doing it if you can find someone to trade with!
He made a post about wanting to trade his saddle brown for black, and he was lucky enough live in the same area as me. We had the exact same interior, power heated sports seats, e90. It was pretty much too good to be true. The rear folding seats mounted differently than the non folding ones, but that didn't matter since the car had all the correct holes to mount either seats. Here is the post he made after we did interior swap: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...transformation I have some more pics on my phone as well if you want I can email them to you. |

no problems at all
remove negative from battery and replace keep in mind that if your car LCI then it requires LCI seats also due the reason that in LCI headrests are crash active, i.e. they are connected to airbag module |

Took about 4-5 hours. We hit a snag when one of the mounts for the folding seats had a screw that was completely stripped. It was a pain to remove, but once we finally got it out everything was smooth.

Every time I see your pictures or read something about swapping non folding for folding seats, it makes me regret not just going ahead and trying to do the swap. Unfortunately they no longer have the car so maybe I'll get lucky and find someone. Thanks again for all your help! |

Can someone help me doing a swap? I'm stuck in wiring issues under my seat.
First photo is my seat in my car right now which I'm trying to remove. Don't know how to remove the yellow thing properly. Second pic is the seat I'm trying to put in but why is the wiring all out on the hanging wire? Someone help! |

Looks like its ripped, that wiring should be connected and going under the carpet. You don't have airbag lights on the dash? lol

* Does my car pre-wire for it? How do I find out? * Direct swap? * Would I be able to use the seats (memory/power/heated) from 335I? Thanks

Yes I added a resistor and it cancelled out the airbag light.
