M Performance LSD

Hey guys, just got a call from my performance parts manager at my dealer and the M LSD is now available and in stock. 2-3 weeks delivery.

I'm scheduled for a August 6th install.

For reference the price I got was 4,225 all in plus tax (including labor, part came in at ~3600). All Canadian dollars obviously.

that seems quite steep .. not clear in my mind what is to be gained if one doesn't track one's car

More usable traction in the winter time (snow) perhaps?

If that is the main goal, isn't xdrive significantly less expensive and more efficient?

Good for you - congrats. More money than I'm willing to spend until a track opens up in the area again. I just got MPE installed last week and love it.

Thanks, I have always wanted a car with an LSD and with this as my daily the extra winter benefit makes it completely worth it to me.

Might have to take the car up to castrol for a lapping day!

The exhaust is something I really wonder, do you like the sound?

I think the car already sounds pretty fantastic so I'm good there.

I'm not really a tuner, I like cars to be 100% stock. I broke my rule for the LSD though.

I only have 600k on exhaust so far so not fully broken in but I do love the sound. I like to hear the engine so stock was a little too quiet for me. I also love I can put it to comfort mode and it sounds just like stock. If you want to hear it let me know.

I'll probably miss the LSD but too much $$ right now.

Do you really feel the difference between stock when driving on the Street?

I look forward to your comments. I have the LSD on order

Would have been a nice checkbox feature from the factory. As is, I will wait for my next car to have one.

As of yet nothing to crazy on the street I think that will change when the weather deteriorates.

I will admit the first time I tried to chuck it into a corner with a bit of throttle it slid easily and beautifully. Very controlled. That was sport+ as well!

I have also noticed that it helps transitions for loose/gravel to asphalt ie when turning onto a highway with enough power to merge I to traffic. Usually traction control would cut a lot with one wheel in the dirt.

Basically it's a good LSD. The install was quick and professional and it also hasn't affect fuel economy negatively, not that it should have by you never know.

Also very satisfying to leave little 11's instead of the sad 1 tire fire that this car comes with stock. Great addition to the car. I'm going to have to get it onto the track soon to make further conclusions. I think it will also make a dramatic difference in inclement conditions. Which is 80% of the year in Canada.

Another thing to note is that while we get our panties in a bunch about our cars not having this optional/standard lots of other performance cars don't have them.

Hell even many monsterous AMG's don't have LSD's. For a long time I believe they were unavailable/optional depending on locale on C63's. My buddies new E63 doesn't even have with with almost 600 hp. Need the AMG "S" to get one.

Were you able to haggle on the LSD, I'm assuming you purchased at our local dealership?

Pretty sure I saw your car over the weekend.

No haggling, Colin wouldn't budge. I made myself seem desperate enough by harassing him every 2 weeks since I picked up the car on availability lol.

Where did you see me? There is 1 other EB in calgary. Passed by him on deerfoot about a month ago.

Thanks for the info... Yeah these LSD are hard to get. Especially if you want it to be part of your lease and fully residualized. I am hoping it creates a more balanced car. I have the MPPK on a 335 and the eDiff helps but way too much inner wheel slippage. So after all the effort this better be worth it.

Yea I just had the part installed and the one corner I pushed through made it totally worth it. I love the car.

Screw the e diff it's useless for anything above a 20 series engine.

It's a damn expensive part but I really don't care. Cars are more important to me than money which makes me sadly destined to being ripped off by bmw.

Basically I work to buy m cars lol.

Traffic circle in McKenzie Towne. I want the LSD, but I might roll the dice on this winter before deciding.

I've seen one EB and a White on red at the Jubilee over the weekend.

Hard to say, we were going in opposite directions. I miss the first couple months we enjoyed of being one of 3 or 4 cars in the city.

Definitely, which are you white or red? I saw the 2 reds when I took delivery. Yours might have been parked right behind me

There is also a Black floating around that I have seen. Damn calgary...

I feel much more exclusive Cruising around the Okanogan!
