updating/changing millage

Hi guys just for sake of conversation, I wonder how hard would it be to adjust millage on BMW E-90,92 etc 3 series. Lets say you have 10,000 miles and you would like to adjust it to 5,000 miles ,what type of tools would be needed where could they be purchased and how would that work .

Im going to say once again this is just conversation and I know that me and all the members in this forum would never dare to do such thing in real life =)

Odometer tampering is a federal offense. Have fun. Here's the penalty section from U.S. code, Title 49, subtitle VI, Part C, Chapter 327 - Odometers:

(b) Criminal Penalty.--A person that knowingly and willfully
violates this chapter or a regulation prescribed or order issued under
this chapter shall be fined under title 18, imprisoned for not more than
3 years, or both.

Drive it in reverse. I thought everyone knew of this loophole?

Seriously though, terrible idea to even consider this.

I'll ignore the flame bait on running like little girls.

There's a big difference between the other things you mention and tampering with your odometer. The only purpose for tampering I can imagine is to cheat someone.

We could discuss other immoral activities as well, but I prefer to talk about better things.

Gee, based on your very sincere and passionate quote above, I guess everyone misjudged you. It's very clear that you only wanted to "have a discussion" on how to tamper with an odometer. I would like to apologize for everyone here who were not willing to do that.

I guess this topic didn't work so well....so why don't we discuss the proper way to sell aluminum siding to the elderly.

Just put the rear up on jack stands and put the car in reverse until you've reached the desired mileage.

So if you want to add mileage, just put it on the "D" or 1st gear if manual and press on the long pedal that is on the right.

If you want to decrease mileage, just put in on the "R" and press on the long pedal that is on the right.

Hope this helps!

Good luck!

How would we know for sure that they don't live in brick houses, obviating the need for aluminum siding?
That was stupid, I can't believe I typed it...

Agreed. Here's why I'm trying to have a little fun and dancing around the original topic: If you had the means to purchase a premium auto-like a BMW-you probably have no need to turn the miles back. The only purpose that serves is to deceive a potential buyer, or the dealer when you turn in a lease.

I think I prefer this as the official Ferris Bueller thread.

You know, a good lawyer could probably make a decent "conspiracy to commit fraud charge" out of this question...

And yes, Sloan was Smokin!!

You cant do that anymore since they switched to digital.. You have to replace the new odmeter and other stuff on it. Remember. this is whole big circuit board. it will cost ya more than if you just trade in your car to the dealership. Dont bother Also you have to reset your FOB key . you have to reprogram your fob key to watever u want.. Im pretty sure .. anything is possible .. WHy would you want to turn your mileage back to watever you want.

Are you seriously telling people to "go away"??? Too funny!: You should have had the flame suit on the very second you originally posted this thread. If not, you're just plain stupid and deserve to be humiliated and made fun of.

Its a pretty dumb question... ESPECIALLY on a PUBLIC forum. Go to THAT particular part of town where you can buy things that "fall" off of trucks and ask around. I'm sure you'll find some computer whiz to help you commit this crime... My bad, I meant "DISCUSS" your mileage/ odometer query.

This thread is a legend in the making - I'm subscribing LOL

PS. Sloane (Mia Sara) Was HOTT
