IDrive screen off at startup but normal after reset
I have the iDrive L7 with the wide split screen on my 07 e92 335i. My screen will not startup when the car turns on. The only way for me to turn it on is by resetting it by pressing the eject buttons and mute button. It will launch after reset every time. Is this something that needs to be reprogrammed or could it be a loose connection ?

So I just removed the screen and unplugged the 2 wire bunches into the screen and reconnected them and it would turn on that initial time. Turn the car off for a bit and restarted it and it goes fails to launch again. If I hit the reset again, it would then initialize itself and turn on. I still don't have a solution

If you leave it alone for like 5 minutes will it turn on? Is it just the screen that won't turn on? Do you still gear the gongs and your radio? Any errors?
When mine does that it usually pops up an SOS malfunction error and I get no sound. Either that or it boots up with --- --- --- for time and date and I get an SOS error with no sound. It's not consistent though and it works fine after resetting it.

Unless you have advanced diagnostic tools your best bet is the dealer. They will probably perform a system update through the most-bus

no the idrive screen just wont turn on, radio works fine and nav works normal. once i reset it, the system boots up like normal. if i pull the fuse and reinsert it it works as well. when i removed the screen and unplugged the two cables to check for a loose connection, it fired up once plugged back in. just awkward to hold the volume knob and both eject buttons everytime i drive. im guessing the dealer might be my last option.
knowing them, they would say the unit needs to be replaced. i appreciate the responses though, thanks |
