LCI E91 Trunk opens on its own only when its rainning

Hi,

So I have a 2009 E91 and the trunk unlatches when I start driving (i.e. the open trunk indicator comes on the dash, trunk lights come one, and I can hear the trunk latch unlatching), but only when it rains.

Has anyone every had this issue?

I've done a search, and the most common thing I found was the break in some of the electrical wires at the top of the trunk, but I don't think that's it since it only happens when it rains.

Any thoughts/help would be much appreciated.

I would Not rule Out your research.
if it only happens when it rains, stands that you have a break in the electrical wires and Rain just enough to cause a short and release the Latch.

So I took another look last night as it was pouring rain and I think somehow, some water is getting to the trunk release button in the driver side foot area as I felt some wetness when I stuck my hand behind there through the ODB panel just below the button.

So I've disconnected the button and electrical tapped off the plug.

I think that might be the problem. I'll have to wait until it rains again to be sure.

I would not rule out top of the trunk either.

Also, where the obdii plug is called the body A post. Or left A post.
Only 2 ways it gets wet.
1. Door seal.
2. Sun roof drain not clear on the left.

Don't wait for rain, start pouring water.
