F90 Pre Lci Steering Retrofit
Hi Gents,
Is it possible to retrofit LCI steering wheel to pre-lci? I like the functionality of skip song button on tap rather than scroll. |

Doubtful, for one the LCI comes with the eye sensor mounted at top of instrument cluster. There are LEDs on the LCI on the steering wheel to notify if you’re not keeping hands on wheel. Also, cruise control buttons are different.

FYI that picture is of an M8. Again same steering wheel as '20 F90 and LCI without adaptive cruise. So I would target wheel trim from a 2020 if you have adaptive cruise.

You should be able to do this by just getting new buttons and new trim for the face of the wheel. The rest of the wheel is the same from what I saw when I swapped to an mperformance wheel.

I found the right set of buttons. Going to order trim and see how it turns out.

I know it's not the same at all as having dedicated buttons on the steering wheel but fo the LCI no longer have the hand motion sensors to turn up the volume and wildcard motion you can setup as "skip"? It was prob my 2018s coolest party trick that I actually used on a regular bases. My wife would sometimes get in her car (which didn't have it) and move her hands around forgetting which car she was in lol

I've done this. You just need the right buttons and the new trim piece to accomodate them. The wheel was updated along with the new iDrive BEFORE the LCI came out (which includes the LEDs on the wheel that some have mentioned).
I had the new trim piece painted in black at the same time before I fitted it altogether. Note that I bought a set of X3 buttons first and they didn't work. Car threw an error every time I pressed the cruise button (even though they looked the same). Have a look on RealOEM to find the correct part number for your car. |

Deed is done. Finally after months of research and hunting for the right parts, here it is.
Everything works how it should and now you can skip a song with a click of a button. |
