Was a decent thread on it here:
https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1877225 Basically, if you don't plan on driving in deep snow, they're fine. |

I am in the northeast and bought a set for fall and spring. I will try leaving them on for winter but do have 19” wheels with snows if I need them. Just don’t like the handling of the snows (mine are square 265s on 19x9.5). Have not tried the AS4 yet so no feedback. I liked this utube:

I have found dedicated snow tires to be best. You have to put miles on tires and the winter snows are typically cheaper than the summer tires. So by using dedicated snows in the winter you actually can save money in the long run and still have the better high performance summer tires for half the year. This discussion has been common among all brands re: northeast and winter. And the overall impression from Audi guys is that the All seasons are just fine, but for deeper snow. Again, deeper snow is not great for any sedan due to ground clearance. I find the handling with the snows is noticeably different than with the summers but not so much that it would be off putting.
For me, I own two sets of rims, I like change the tires twice a year. Its a time to look at the brakes and other stuff. The big pain is storing the tires/wheels, which I do over head. They are heavy. I am old. Overhead is getting tough. But I still do it. Mike

I change about 7 sets of snow wheels (3 are mine, 2 are friends and 2 are family). Some go upstairs and some go downstairs. I am only 57.

I have PS4 all seasons and they are a great tire in Colorado, where it gets colder than 45 degrees half the year. Summer tires turn into hockey pucks at those colder temps whereas PS4 all season's are actually quite incredible. Pretty darn good in light snow, fine in the hot temps. I don't track the car, and no question PS5 would be best tire for that. Since the m5 is my daily, I like the security of having good grip in most all conditions. If you are driving in deeper snow you would want dedicated snows.

This is overhead. Now I use a step ladder to get at proper height to put the tires up. The chains are long on purpose. As I get older, the rack will be moved lower. Mike

Depending on when my build is complete, I believe I decided to run these exact tires through the winter. We don't get a lot of snow here at all, I work from home, plus I have an older 4x4 truck with KO2s so the M5 is likely to never see a snow flake, but if it does I should be OK.I've actually watched that YT video posted above several times over the past couple weeks! Its what really helped make my mind up - very impressive!

I live in Northern California and run these tires all year. The all season designation plus 4 wheel drive means no issues with chain controls should I get caught inadvertently traveling over the Sierra in a snow storm (stressing the word inadvertently).
With regards to summer performance, a Michelin tire guy told me at Porsche Werks Reunion that they are only 3% - 4% worse than the super high performance sport 4s. For street driving, that is unnoticeable for me. Also, the sport 4s is not as good when it is 45 degrees and wet. The all seasons seem the safer choice to me. |

I just stack all my tires in my shed, on the floor - even rolling them around is getting annoying, can't imagine having to lift them up. |

From my experience giving all seasons a try, they work great for cold weather driving when there isn't any snow/ice accumulation. However, I wasn't able to get up my driveway with only 1/2 inch snow on some good all seasons (not an F90 but an xdrive car). When using my full winter Blizzaks, I make it up with ease in even more extreme conditions.
Given that, I still plan to opt for all seasons on my F90 (still at Quality Check!) since summers just don't do well on a lot of cold spring/fall days even after giving the tires a good warm up. For actual snow conditions I'll revert to driving other cars. |

The Blizzak's are very interesting. I had on a few cars. On our Subaru Legacy Wagon (1997 if recall) the car could drive up and down a house if covered in snow. But dry road drive was very squishy and if you dared leave them on your car in late March the thread would disappear before your eyes. Very soft compound. Their Mark II model was better.
I had Dunlop Winter M3's on my '03 RS6. They were great. Had speed rating of 120 mph and dry road handling was pretty good. Not Michelin PS 2 good but ok. As mentioned I have the Pirelli's on the M5, that is the tire my dealer got for me when I bought the second set of rims the first winter. There were no aftermarket rims yet out for the M5 (but for the $2000 each kind LOL). My dad was looking into all seasons but I talked him out of it. All seasons are great on the Sienna. Where they belong. Mike

I forget who on the forums runs them in his modded M5 who does 1/4 on them and cut 1.6x which is very impressive launch so both the AWD and tires doing there job.
I have experience with AS3 on my modded rear wheel drive corvette not sure why summer car has AS3 but they are very impressive in straight line and in corners. Unless you are tracking your M5 you will be more than fine with AS4 on street with hard cornering. I’m in the same boat and will probably go AS4 when time comes. I don’t want to be bothered having extra set of wheels |

Ive had Michelin as3 plus and as4s on my AMG wagon for a few years. I have also had blizzaks on my previous 5 series for about 8 seasons. Believe it or not all season tires came a long way from what they were back in the day. As long as you have realistic expectations they will do fine during winter months. Not dedicated winter tire good but just fine. What is the biggest downside with all seasons is that when new they do very well in snow. The second season however is much different. I'd say it changes significantly after you put like 10000 miles on them. I've seen some tests on YouTube when they show AWD car on all seasons against rear wheel drive or front wheel drive vehicle on snow tires. . Of course All wheel drive car wins in every category. What I'd like to see is the difference when tires have been driven over those 10000 miles than compared. Nobody is talking about degradation of winter performance after only one season on them. I would definitely re-think a comment that the new all seasons belong to Siennas. If you haul family in the sienna it's even more important to have proper tires on it but to each it's own I guess

I live in Chicago. We get a moderate amount of snow all winter but salt trucks are all over the city before it evens starts snowing. I was able to move around on summer tires all winter (nissan gtr) without a problem but I would keep my distance from the cars in front of me for safety because they were not the best tire for stopping. This will be my first winter with the P-Zeros and I have nothing to worry about, obviously don’t drive like an idiot and in heavy snow. Also, summer tires get so hard in the winter that the occasional drifts on an empty corner are effortless.

^^ same here live in Boston.
Ultra high performance AS4 aren’t like regular all season tires technology come along way. I love argument well if you want to compromise vs summer tires I call bullshit. Another plus is AS4 will get you double miles and almost 40% less as an added bonus. Not that money is a factor owning a high priced car. Running snow tires is not required with this car. Those that do run snow tires are compromising cornering ability when not driving in snow. If you live in warm weather climate all year then sure go with summer tires. I've been driving with AS4 since January. Didn't get to use them much in snowy conditions, but they were great all summer. I've had very positive experience with lesser all season tires on lesser cars and I can't wait for the winter to try to get stuck somewhere at a high elevation, as I do
