3 types of PS4s?
What exactly is the difference in these 3 tires?
They all come up as a match for the F90, but assuming there is some relevance for that “Star BMW” designation vs Ferrari or Genesis maybe?? |

Your most expensive one is Star marked. Meaning it's made for BMW. That's what you should go with. I'm no tire compound expert but I tried to figure this all out some time ago and just determined Star marked is the right answer. The middle one looks like standard offering and I have no idea what GOE Genesis is unless that's something for Hyundai.

The GOE is indeed a Hyundai offering — "Genesis Original Equipment." Only learned this myself back then.

Look. BLUF. Sure you could get bmw star. IF AVAILABLE. But certainly don't need to by any means. Especially since it only comes in oem spec sizes. Many (myself included) are running generic PS4S because it really doesn't matter in the end. Yes the bmw star is a marginally "better" tire but you will NEVER know the difference on the street. I went generic so I could run a wider tire profile 285/295 vice 275/285. Fills the wheel gap and protects the rims a bit more. Search YouTube or this forum. It is discussed decently and demoed by a guy testing on a track. Basically Michelin makes the same tire in different specs for different manufactures if they pay for it. Some want sound deadening foam on the inside (mercedes), some want a more narrow tire up front and less tread depth (Ferrari), and idk what changed with the Genesis besides the premium touch sidewall which is really cool imo (micro laser cuts into a finish line flag design) but my guess would be noise as well. Porsche also has 2 or 3 different ones N0, N1, etc. Some differ ever so slightly in tread design. But you wouldn't notice it if you didn't know what to look for. Anyway don't get fooled by the "must be oem BMW or nothing else" crowd.

I could perhaps see deviating from it for cost, but the generic ones are very marginally more. Like you said, if it's just as readily available as the generic, and I'm not in an emergency situation where I need a tire RIGHT NOW…

Excellent point. I've been fortunate to never to have put tires on just to return a lease because the dealership is always so eager to get me into the next car, they've never cared. If you're dispossessing yourself of the car and not acquiring another through the same dealership though, they're likely to be a bit more scrutinous of the lease return.
