They squeak under light to medium brake pressure, under hard pressure they’re quiet until you brake hard consistently like on a canyon or track where they develop a deep groan. Maybe you don’t drive your car enough to actually realize this
Are you a real car guy or just a wannabe car guy? 😂

I’ve got CCBs on three cars. The noise is no worse than steel rotors. Must be the way you drive.

Considering the upcharge from the factory was what, $8500 for the CCB... 15K seem reasonable.

It sounds even cheap (this is relative, of course), I thought that the expense of replacing all pads/rotors (on CCB's) was 20k dollars.

15k including calipers sounds like a bargain!

Question stemming from this thread and the other one where there was too much brain damage....

Someone mentioned Racing Brake makes 2 piece rotors, while looking at it it appears they also make a carbon ceramic rotor and pad set. It says on the website "Iron Upgrade or CCB Replacement"...

They look to be 6700 front, and 6200 rear.

Any one know if this is just a direct swap of rotors and pads? still using the same caliper for the steel F90 brakes?

Its a little cheaper than the entire retro fit from BMW.

I wonder if these would work as well as the CCBs from BMW? If it is a direct rotor and pad replacement for the steel rotors could be a decent option, although still expensive. And would be a lot easier to just swap rotors and pads from steel to carbon.

Anyone know if this is actually what it is? How well it would work? And is it literally just pads and rotors? I was under the impression the caliper and booster had to change also for CCB.

Interested to find out if one could really just swap rotors and pads to achieve having CCB.

Lmao. No. I've had CCB's on 570s, R8 and Alfa Giulia QV. None of them were noisy and felt like regular brakes (except initial bite on Mclaren). R8 and Guilia you couldn't tell if they were CCB's at all during normal drive. Only Mclaren felt different, as in initial bite took some getting used to.

Cheaper way to go this route is to just get a set of used rotors off a crashed f90 and buy nee brake pads. Stay under 20k miles on the rotors and you should fine fine (maybe $4,000). I did this on my f10 m5 with no issues. Provides a lot more positive steering feel by lightening up the rotors.

I have ccb rotors on 7 cars of mine, none of them squeak. Funny thing is my 22 standard m5 has about 1k miles on it and the rotors squeak like hell as well as my 21 x6m comp with 8500 miles noisy as f also.

Got them through my shop for $13,450. Not paying tax or delivery

Definitely the cheaper option but for a complete braking system I'd rather buy new and take the hit of selling them off used when I sell the car. Depending on the buyer of my M5C.

Fair, I'm just worried about durability of the rotors myself... steel ones I can get replaced for free pretty much infinitely, at any mileage I so choose sadly no such option for the carbons... I'm quite interested to see what the difference is between the ones with the carbons I've driven and mine with steel is honestly, if it's really that big a difference I might retrofit it and if something were to happen just put the steel back on

Perhaps it's your driving habits? I had/have CCB on Z06, 600LT,720, F90, and CS.. no squealing. If they do (Z06 once in awhile) take it out and do one or two hard stops and it's gone.

YMMV, but I wouldn't convert to avoid squeal. It's miles better than the steel brakes I had on my F10 and previous F90, but it's there. Started at about 2k miles for me, but it's still minimal. And like someone else said, if you drive it like a granny, they will squeal.

Now, the lack of brake dust is worth the price of admission IMO. I will buy CCB from now on simply because of this.

Maybe some people's brakes squeak and some do not, steel or CCB. :

Never compared their noise to steel rotors because I never had steels on an f90. Could be the way I drive and the fact that I track my cars and run canyons multiple times per week. I’d imagine a lot of f90 owners are of an older crowd and drive the car like an executive sedan should be driven, not like a 4 door racecar 🤷*♂️. I will say that my rotors were dead silent on my 2021 m5comp past 10k miles. On the cs, I still get a faint squeal at medium brake pressure occasionally but they’ve quieted down significantly compared to when they were new.

I’m just noting my own experiences with more f90s with CCBs than most people on this thread. I’ve also driven a friends g80 with CCBs and it squealed too. Remember that I was the one attacked by someone calling me “full of BS” when I’m just trying to share my own experience and what mechanics and shop owners have told me… as for whether or not I’m a real car guy, dm me if you’re near LA and you can join me on a trackday or a canyon run

Maybe I'm unlucky or something is wrong but my CCBs squeal almost nonstop! If I do some hard braking to shut them up, that usually works for the remainder of day and then they are back to squealing
