Guys,

I am really regretting order my car with the CF roof and not moonroof I am supposed to pick up my new car in two weeks. I am current m4 owner and have extended my lease for the last couple months.


I found a competition spec of the identical car that has a moonroof. My order is not CS. Same specs with moonroof, my order is standard M5. How would you suggest I approach getting this car? Should I ask my dealer to do a dealer trade? Do I have an "asset" that makes this valuable? Should I re-order?

Just be upfront and honest. You’re the customer. Get what you REALLY want. $100K+ is a LOT of money to spend and not be 100% satisfied

Agreed. The OP's selling dealer may be able to trade the ordered car for the completion car that OP wants. If that fails, ask to reorder and continue your lease for another 90 days.

in my opinion, if you don't want the carbon fiber roof, it'll look more like every other 5 series, the CF roof makes it more of a monster looking car and more mean. with the sunroof, its just like a regular 5 series. also, how often do you use a sunroof? there is a reason they put the CF roof, its more mean and animal type look. compare it again, you'll see. good luck bud. my M5 competition is on the way, i ordered with the CF roof.

I personally can't stand a sunroof, but I also reside in west Texas where a sunroof is worthless.

I thought my world was over when I went from F10 M5 with sunroof to M6 without sunroof. Personally... I like it without sunroof more now. I used to always drive the with sunroof open, but the carbon fiber roof and all of the alcantara is dope. Was your order a 2018 or a 2019? Big residual difference if you are leasing.

I was a big sunroof guy as my current 540i has one. Mind you prior to getting my headliner re-done on it I couldn't use it because it was drapping. Sunroof is so 80's and I'm so relieved I opted for the carbon instead with my FE. Plus it will be more desirable on resale.

Stop thinking about it while you wait for your car. Carbon gives you about 1.5 inches more headroom as well.
