To those outside the US with display keys...

does having display key on an M5 give you remote engine starting?

I see that the G05/G07 have remote engine start via the display keys and was wondering if that functionality comes with all display keys.

Are US owners able to buy a display key and have it coded for their US-spec cars?

Garage List
I don't have a display key, but I am reasonably certain remote start is NOT built in to any F90 M5 regardless of market or key.

No, it does exactly the same as the app on my mobile phone - I tried it once and it's been left in a box at home ever since.

I can confirm, no remote engine starting function nor does it has the remote parking option. Note: Remote parking is NOT allowed as an option. I do find it weird though. Remote engine start might be a feature included in new future models. There are aftermarket solutions for remote engine start as shown by Evolve on an aftermarket alarm system.

As above - no remote starting - but I was told (by the dealer) it had the parking function (I will check - but would never use it, as I've heard the alloys could take a beating).

Please do check with your dealer. My local dealer argued that remote parking is not available as an option.

our cars don't come with remote start....as mentioned.

I think so far only the X7, M850, and 7 series have this option

It could vary by region. For example, some have reported that the new X7 has remote parking for some models outside the US, but the feature is currently disabled on all US-spec cars for whatever reasons, possibly regulatory, much like the full functionality of laser lights has been disabled even with cars equipped with the hardware for it. Perhaps the functionality can be simply coded back in, though nobody here has really tried to.

No......confirmed no start up in the UK. Had it for a week and the battery died on me after 2 days. Cant really see the point given the app that's available. Looks nice but that's about it.

Display key in Canada is pretty useless. You have 4 status updates that is shows.
1. Security info
2. Vehicle info
3. Mobility info
4. Precond. Setting

So no self park or remote start.

I find the BMWConnect much more useful.

Took delivery of the F90 Comp and as others have shared, the display key is pretty much useless...... No remote parking option makes the display key redundant not to mention bulky inside pockets....
