All good points. The AMG is stiff for sure. I had no real issue with it as I was used to it, but in comparison the BMW has a much better demeanor around town. At least before the revamped 2021 AMG suspension. Also, I totally understand the apples and oranges thing. I thought being practical would be feasible, but the difference is so substantial, I would really kick myself for not doing the M5!

With respect to the 550s and the current M5, there is no comparison. This is why the cars are priced differently and have different features. Both great cars, but not apples to apples.

Its capable but lacking in feeling, too much body roll, numb steering, and just couldn't compare to its earlier predecessors in my opinion.
I had several F10 550s, all well equipped. The handling is not even remotely close to the F90. In fact, I didn't realize how bad the handling really was in the 550 until I test drove the F90.

The straight line performance of a tuned 550 is not shabby but the driving experience does not come close at all compared to the M5. I'd get something else before going back to a 550. Spoiled now I guess, lol.

See, that is exactly what I was describing. Like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, except the M5 can do both, whereas the 550 does not really get into Hyde territory. Not knocking it, just was considering getting one until I drove the M5.

The suspension and braking on the M550 is a joke in comparison to the M5. They are not even remotely comparable vehicles.

My lease is up May 15th. I will let it sit if it shows up early. To not waste my AMG lease. They said end of April maybe.
