The comments on exotics, I don't think for me at least it's the unattainable part. Attainable cars have improved performance to no end and that has meant exotics have gone totally bananas to a point where they are not really any fun on the road. And once you hit a track, tbh a GT3 does almost as good a job as anything, is cheaper to run and if I really want to go balls out a Caterham or basic open wheel car is faster than an exotic at lapping a track.
I just do not see a place for them and when asked to spend $1m on 6 cars I felt no need to squeeze one in. |

I thought I would be shot for saying this and you already said it. I just don't find the lines of the late model Bugatti cars attractive AT ALL. They are tremendous cars, but if I had millions to spend I still would not have one. They are ugly to me.

I have to say, while the miata is loved by enthusiasts as an entry level sports car, they are all too small and too underpowered for me. I have driven a fiat 124 and while it was fun, my 3er feels more sporty while also being able to carry 2.5x the amount of people and things the miata can fit. And the older gens are pathetic looking, as well.
I'm not a huge fan of the new civic type R, it looks like a gundam-wing style toy racer. Also, I think the X4, M or not, is a complete abomination. It looks horrendous and is worse than a wagon or SUV in every way.

Lots of beautiful country lanes there that are actually slightly too small for modern cars that wiggle through the fields. With their characteristic hedges or stone walls beside them so trucks and SUV's sometimes virtually need to come to a hold to pass eachother. A miata is indeed not a car for areas that have street patterns that resemble tartan tweeds.

I think it's gorgeous
Also strange to like the 288GTO but not like a 308/328. They are all similar in appearance imho. Sure if one could choose the 288GTO is the one to pick, but with 272 made that's a hypothetical situation.

LOL/ I appreciate your comment. I was really just pulling his chain as everyone has a right to thier own opinion, but my 308 is a heck of a lot of fun for about 1/50th the price of a 288GTO and looks pretty much the same. I actually transported a 288 for a client one time and humbly thought for as cool as it looks and performs, it isn't THAT much better in looks than mine was even though it was a very rare exotic.

Agree with those who said MKIV Supra. That car jumped right to my mind when I saw this thread. Always thought they looked horrendously ugly - like a fat bulbous whale. I had a 300ZXTT and my friend had a nice, rare, hardtop MKIV Supra 6MT. Yeah the car drove nice but I couldn't get over how ugly it looked next to my Z and it felt gigantic b/c of the long hood and claustraphobic wrap around interior.
The R34 Skylines looked terrible as well. It looked like someone styled it using several rectangular tissue boxes. WTF? For those who think the 1st gen NSX was overrated... that's what I thought too b/c my fixed up 300ZXTT was so much faster... then i spent a whole day test driving a bunch of NSXs with my friend who was looking to buy one. I was absolutely blown away by how awesome that car was engineered and how it felt to drive. It absolutely felt easily worth 3x more than my Z. Japanese engineering at its absolute finest. I would love to own one today even though they're no faster than a V6 Camry or most turbo 4 cylinder cars out today. |

E type is probably my most notable disliked 'beloved' car. Maybe it was incredible in the 60s, but it's not the 60s any more! It just does nothing for me...blimp on a skate.
I also don't like the look of any Porsche, though I love their performance, engineering and ethos. Except...the Panamera. So ugly it's awesome again! Would 100% own one for family duties if £ and space etc permitted. |

And I think the 308 and 288 engines are pretty closely related, coming from the same engine family. The first one of course misses the dual turbo. What don't you like about flat plane V8's and what do you like when they're turbocharged? As far as power and performance goes, both cars are hopelessly outdated nowadays anyway.
