Moving On......

My M5 lease is up in June and I was just about to pull the trigger on a comp order this week. Wifey mentioned "Porsche" to me as a change and placed the bug up me arse. I've been in a 5 series cockpit for 6 years and this would have made it 9, so I agreed on a change / something different for my DD. Can't say enough on how much I enjoy the M5, but I am totally embracing the change. This isn't a comparison thread, it's just matter of fact. Here's what I am getting into in the summer and I will probably have to extend the M5 lease, cause a GTS is a rare beast and I was lucky to grab an allocation for one.
The GTS is new for '21 and note the light weight package I added, on top of the GTS nature, should be a blast!

The GTS trim cars are perfection, and I'll not hear otherwise. I can't *wait* for the kids to be out of car seats so I can finally grab a 911 GTS. I had a 997.2 GTS all picked out right before we got pregnant with the second one lol. Few more years...

Congratulations, that thing will rock!

Thx and well said! Once this goes back, my now 15 yr old daughter and 13 yr old son, will both be of driving age and my 16yr old will be in college. Therefore, I can drop all practicality and get a 911 4 as my DD. I also had a new 997.2 which was an S, loved it. I currently have this classic in my stable.

On the same boat here - lease ends in August and cannot decide what to get for DD. I do about 30 miles daily.

Initially was thinking of another M5 but I will be amazingly bored with the same interior/car (keep in mind this is the first car I have kept for duration of lease - usually get out in a year or two).

We already have an X5 for SUV and a 4 year old so back seat access is important and cannot go 911 route.

Have been thinking of giving the Taycan 4S a try or the upcoming etron GT but not sure ready for electrification when this next one may really be the last gasoline powered one that makes sense.

Then started considering the M8 comp gran coupe but there is just something about the looks that doesn't excite me. Seems just so long maybe? Maybe need to find a good color combination.

So stuck!!!

I could never go electrical, especially coming out of this monster!!
M8 looks like a Mustang. I love Mustangs, but not going to spend over $150k+ for a look alike, no matter what. I priced up a M8 GC comp and the lease rate is nuts and that's with a good discount. I love BMWs and especially M, but I think BMW made a mistake w/ the 8, in that they are now in the $ territory, where people will question is a BMW really worth that. I think when you are up in that range, you go beyond a BMW and level up to Porsche. Just my humble opinion...

I am making a switch to a 2021 C4S in two weeks
I have 20 month into the current lease of my M5C , but I like switching cars around
I was tempted to get cayenne GTS after I heard the exhaust note at dealer but I have never owned an SUV
I am a little concerned about road noise with 911 as I drive 1k miles a month but will give it a shot and if too much noise will switch back to 4 door sedan beast

I have the same car on order but white on blue/white.

Ive driven my friends, it is both a more involving ride and more comfortable ride then my wifes M8.

Excellent choice

Totally agree! There is just something about the M8 looks that is off. Thus the reason I am stuck.

But can definitely not do an SUV (yours looks awesome btw) and the only thing Porsche wise would be a Panamera or a Taycan.

May look into the RS7 and refreshed E63 too but at the end I may have to either decide that now is the time to install a charger in the garage or go for another M5 - there isn't really much out there that is this good for a daily driver I think?

The Cayenne GTS is, more than the M8? Curious if you can elaborate as I am considering so many options now.

My wife had X6M loaner and I really liked it. The exhaust was intoxicating. I am not sure if it was a special exhaust or what. I don't like the looks of the Tycan or Panamera. The Panamera would be more tolerable and has great option choices, at a price of course. I also wanted a V-8 which is available in the Panamera but you have to at least get the GTS which starts at $129k base. I considered the new Mercedes S class as well. There are a lot of good choices.

I priced an M8 Grand Coupe Comp w/ a 6% discount from my guy and it was $50 more a month lease wise, compared to my GTC coupe w/ a 5.5% discount. $50 is negligible, but i'd rather have a GTS Porsche over a BMW M at this point.

Congrats, new Cayenne is really nice and the GTS trims are some of the best of the bunch. Nice pick on the Houndstooth interior as well.

I looked at an M8 Convertible and it did not have the full leather. $147000 sticker and no full leather.....that kind of money, it's a no brainer, the friggen car should be loaded, the better stereo, the full leather, etc etc. same.....car lingers on lot. Nice color combo though.

I assume you mean Carrera? I was just about to do the same, but I still have 2 teens out of 3, that are not of driving age. Therefore, i have to help wifey out still and pick them up in a pinch, etc. I am especially active in my only son's sports and activities, so I am always going to games, etc. and driving home some friends. Once he's of driving age, my GTS will be going back and I intend to get a 911 as my DD.

Thx and that's all apart of the lt weight sport package. Here's a great vid explaining all on the car. On top of the GTS nature, I added the lt wt sport package, to make it extra ballistic for an SUV. That adds ultra light 22s, carbon fiber roof, lt wt sport exhaust, carbon fiber aero affects, the hounds tooth interior (hounds tooth is cloth) w/ middle rear seat deletion, etc. Looks sick, saves about 60lbs and makes the car that more desireable. :}

I must have missed a word there - the previous post was saying the GTS is more nimble than the M8 I believe and was curious from what perspective.

Pricing wise, mind sharing what you are getting the GTS for? Might convince me to go and look for one too

No, the M8 comparison was only price range and lease rates. It's my daily driver, to replace my DD M5. I also have 3 teens, only one that's of junion license driving age, so I still have to help wifey out in a pinch w/ pickups and I am very heavily involved w/ all my 13yr old son's sports and activites, so I find myself driving some friends of his too. Once he's of driving age (my youngest) it's 911 C4 time for DD!

It feels much quicker to respond, more tossable, despite being so much taller with the 4 wheel torque vectoring and other porsche suspension goodies it drives like a much smaller car.

In comfort mode it is actually comfort not a sport light like M cars. And it doesnt sacrifice any feel in having an actual comfort setting. It drives a lot more like a sports car then the M8 does, maybe not in speed but in feel.
