Unless you have the launch edition M5 you can't fit these Exhaust systems, the new GPF filters in the exhaust system are fitted to all the later F90 M5's and a "Legal requirement".
The back box is the only thing you can fit.

Not quite right John, you can fit any exhaust to the 2018 M5s, before i think Aug/Sept, as long as they dont have the OPFs fitted. Its not just the FE that you can fit the exhaust too.

If you look under the car, about inline with the drivers door, you will see two small cylindrical type objects in the exhaust system. These are the OPFs. Don’t confuse these with the resonator, which is a square object just after the downpipes, this is a singular box type component. If you don’t see the two cylinders in the exhaust system, you are OPF free

I'd be interested in this too. Mine has the M Sport exhaust but i don't think it is that loud, i assume this has something to do with the new OPF's

You can, but then you have to have the engine remapped, and wave your warranty goodbye.

does removing these created a fault code on the instrument cluster?

You will get a CEL in the instrument cluster, and also, worse than that, may go into limp mode.

In the UK removing any part of the emission control system is an MOT failure, when it comes around. Doing so will also void the manufacture warranty and throw an error code. It also voids any finance agreement you may have with BMW (if applicable).

Furthermore, driving around in a vehicle with any of the OEM emission control system changed or removed is now a criminal offence in the UK.

Diesel particulate filters have been around for a over 15 years and it was only a matter of time before petrol engines suffered the same fate.

Can anyone tell me the difference between opened and closed valves on Remus? I Had Remus on my m2 and everything was perfect except the fact that if I had opened or closed valves it didn't make much of a difference. when I heard the exhaust from Akrapovic and m performance I realized what the difference should be.

Highly doubt anyone would find out as long as you replace it during the MOT.

Although I'm no criminal, I have zero compunction in doing so seeing it's an unfair law which was set with zero democratic input.
