been to my trusty dealer and got info on engine changes

BMW engine revisions:

e90/e91/e92

3.0NA engine will be produced until end of may 2007 and will then be faced out to be replaced by the 3.0BI-turbo engine.

325i will remain in its current form until december 2007, revision is expected/phase out?

328i introduction in september 2007 , rumoured to produce 230bhp.

The saloon will not get more than 306bhp. The talk of a si version are not showing in the bmw catalgoue.

335d expected to ship september , either with a 272bhp or 291 bhp part, yet uncertain.

330d will not be revised until 2008/2009

no plans to revise 320d.

I got loads more info on 5 series and 6 series and z4 and so on, if anyone interested.

As usual this are estimates in an internal bmw memorandum, so expect changes / alterations..

I hope GregA can confirm most of the details

3.0 (530i/530xi) litre engine will be produced until end of may 2007 and will then be faced out to be replaced by the 3.5BI-turbo engine. producing 306bhp. No 340bhp part for the standard e60

2.5 engine will remain in its current form until december 2007, revision is expected/phase out? possibly replaced with a 2.8 version producing around 230bhp.

4.8 V8 engine will NOT be changed/replaced until december 2010. Then expect a 5.2engine with around 406bhp (not finalized)

535d will be replaced with a 291bhp part in september 2007 (e90 3 series likely to carry engine first)

530d will not be altered until 2008/2009

Possibly a 540d v8 diesel early in 2009.

Expect a big big facelift around may 2007, bmw is really putting a lot of resources into this

If that's true, I'm surprised we haven't seen any facelifted spy shots yet.

im just telling you what i was told..

Quote:
expect the back light cluster to be altered, front lights, construction of the bumpers including the welding procedure (as in use the plastic application found in the e63), interior revisions including a change (possibly) in the instrument cluster
i would tend to believe the dealer but not 100%... remember he told me the 335i was going to be a 320bhp part ???

Are you saying the coupe won't be introduced with the bi-turbo engine?

Agreed.

325Ci and 335Ci are the first coupe versions to arrive in September. I guess its safe to say that more versions will be introduced later.

I also don't think that the 330i engine will be phased out. It's rumored that the 325i and 330i will be changed to Direct-Injection versions later on.

At bmwusa.com you can order a 2007 e60 now and it looks identical to the 2006 model. Maybe in May 2007 is when BMW will be announcing a facelift. That would be very odd timing, IMO, however.

my2007 is available from march 2006 in the usa, this has nothing to do with the real/true model 2007 revision.

There is a reason they changed the E60 to MY2007 in march

From March production the E60 has got the new tire pressure system as recuired in all new USA cars by 2009.
Instead of just telling you it has a flat, it tells you which one is flat.

They have to use the old system of having a monitor in each tire, which makes the system prone to damage, but this is required by the new USA legsilation.

So you know which cars conform to the new regulations they changed the MY

Other USA models will recieve the system later

So if this is true, it basically means that the E90 330 engine will be replaced only AFTER a full two years following its inital debut.

My info for Germany:

E90/E91: 325d, 335d & 335i added in September 2006 to the existing model line.
E92: 325i, 335i, 330d, 335d coming in September 2006. 335si coming in 2007. Also xDrive - new version.
E93: coming in Spring 2007 (production starts in December 2006) - same engines as coupe.

635d & 645d are to come in early 2007.

E60's "big" facelift has more to do with chasis, not design. New versions of DSC & xDrive will be applied - coming from new X5. New engines also coming.

I have no info on power outputs - except 245kW (333HP) for 335si, and rumours 335d coming with 210kW (286HP).

Ok, so the E90 in Europe will no longer be available with a 2.5 liter gas engine? Hard to believe as many Euro countries charge additional tax according to displacement, thus the availability of smaller engines in the Euro market, and why the Euro E90 325i still has the 2.5 liter engine, when the US 325i has a 3.0.

There will be a coupe and sedan with the "335i" badge?
Seems odd.
And, an x-drive coupe?

What is an E93?
Nevermind, I found out.

This twin turbo, it's a gas engine right, or diesel, or one for each?

BTW, those turbo's are SO tiny, I almost want to call them "cute".

No wonder they say no lag. Those things look like they could spool up from a chipmunks fart.
The oil feeder and coolant line look quite large and robust for such small turbo's. That's good for longevity.
Any word on the boost pressure?

T
