M-Tech steering wheel and M steering wheen

hi

is there a difference in size? the m package thats offered on the new 2011 3 series gets you the m tech wheel.

is this wheel the same as the m3 wheel im more curious about the size and thickness, as the m3 wheel is great

i did a search and cant seem to find the answer

and is the m tech wheel different than the regular sport wheels that come with the sport package

Yes. Asides from the looks of the two steering wheels, the regular sport pkg wheel includes a heater (a very nice feature for our winters!), whereas the m sport wheel does not.

I prefer the look of the m-sport wheel, but I'm very glad my car has the steering wheel heater. I have used it a lot so far.

heated wheel only for LCI though... FWIW.

The M-tech, I was told, is slightly thicker.

Ive had both. Both are nice and thick. They felt about the same to me. Ive read on the boards here that the m-tech is thicker, just barely.

I can say that I preferred the M3 over the m-tech no doubt! The m3 is softer leather, and I like the smoothness way more. When its hot out the M3 wheel just the best thing in the world!

I have the perforated shifter and e-brake and I still chose to go M3...

Cant go wrong either way though

+1

I've used mine everyday in winter. If the difference in size is barely noticeable, then go with the heater. Unfortunately, it's a little gadget that comes in very handy during our 5 months of white stuff! Plus, it really heats up fast!

How do I tell if I have the heated wheel?

LCI = life cycle impulse (BMW's term for facelift)

FWIW = for what it's worth

If you have an extra steering wheel button on the steering column, then you have heated steering wheel.
