Price to install rear sway?
I know that this is a bit of an involved process, and not really a DIY, so what sort of prices are people being charged to have a dealer or shop install a new rear sway bar?

Yikes! $1171? That's 9 to 13 hours of labor (At $90 to $130/hr) to install springs and sways?!! I did my springs myself in 4 hours, with beer breaks, and the front sways in a couple hours, alone in my garage as a hack. Cut my time in half for a pro who has air tools, knowledge, and a lift, and then that's saying the rear sway takes 6-10 hours... Something's not right here.
I would say rear sway takes about 2-3 hrs for a pro. |

BMW is not mod friendly. This is why I am hesitate to do any suspension mod because I am not ready to spend that kind of money after I already spent 35K to buy my 135. However, I am interested in aFe intake and JB3.

I'll soon have a set of custom Cross coilovers & camber plates installed by the same BMW certified mechanic here in Georgia I have used for years. I haven't decided to have sway bars installed as yet but the labor to install everything at this point is $400.
If you want to come to Atlanta I'll get you in and out at his shop for the same price. I will be taking pictures of the removal & install and plan to upload the photos here and my website. Call

The sway bar install is ~2 hours for a shop. Having a lift & a tranny jack makes all the difference.
If you explain to them that they need to just lower the rear subframe and slide the sway bar in/out of the gap you create, they might listen to reason and not try to charge 6 hours. They do not have to disconnect any brake lines, fuel hoses, etc. Just lower the subframe ~3" while the tranny jack supports it. |

I had to disconnect the primary brake lines that connect from the frame to the subframe to keep them from stretching as I lowered. However, I just used a line clamp to keep any fluid from dripping and I didnt even need to bleed them after. I would imagine a properly equipped shop could do the rear sway bar in about 2 hours or less. |
