flat tire
i got my first flat (well not flat bc of the run flats) but anyways, i love this car. i'm driving home last night and all of a sudden my tire pressure thing goes off and i'm like wtf. so i stop the car get out check my tires and i see nothing wrong with them. the thing that gave it away is when i was in a quiet area in my neighborhood and i heard something on my back tire came to find out it is a nail so i have to go get if fixed today. ah well things happen but i'm not mad because this car is great and lets you know about everything if somehting happens.

Let us know if you're able to get a simple plug repair, and how you make out.

I have always had a question about run flats; I know they will go 50ish miles up to a certain mph before the support in the sidewalls starts to give out, but what if you get a flat and the tire places or closed? Or what if you get a flat but the air didn't leak out enough to set the sensor off, so you park your car and the rest of the air empties durring the night. How long do the sidewalls last when the car is just sitting there? They still have to hold up the weight of the car. And once you get in the car and the sensor goes off how many miles do you have then to get it fixed?
I ask because I live 25 or so miles to the nearest Discount Tire and close to 50 from my dealer and every time I get a flat it's either after hours or on Sunday for some stupid reason. Jesse |

my sensor went off last week i think wednesday and i tires looked fine so i put a little air in them and the sensor went shut off but last night the sensor came on and then i checked it and saw the nail. i drove about 200 miles within the last week and the tire seems fine there is no wear on it or nothing and i would go about 65-70 mph on the highway and the car would stay sturdy and strong on the road without any wobbly feeling to it so i guess you could last a while with the run flats to get it fixed if the places are closed or there is nothing around you.

I think it depends on the damage. If it's a small puncture, yes, I believe that it can be fixed like any other tire. However, if you split the sidewall, forget about it. BTW, from my experience, there was an interesting dance I had to go through to get new tires. The model of tire we have on these vehicles is still very new and in shory supply. When ordering, you need to provide your vin so they can verify that you actually own a 3 series. Apparently they want to make sure that they have enough inventory by not giving them away to people who just want great tires for their Honda, etc. Rob |
