Thinkware U3000

Hi

I'm considering installing a dash cam on my car. In the past year I've had 5 nails in my tires. A dash cam won't prevent it from happening and if someone approaches the car from the side, I won't see them but I need to do something.

I'm looking at the Thinkware U3000. Does anyone have experience with this cam? For parking mode, I think I have to get an external battery so that the cam uses that instead of the car battery. Does this seem right?

Thanks in advance

I think the U1000 with rear cam in my car. I use an external battery for park mode. You technically don’t have to use an external battery for park mode but then you risk / likely will at some point run down your car’s battery — which will def make it not worth it at that point.

Most popular choice I think is Blackvue.

Five nails that’s wild.

I have the front and rear Thinkware U1000 for many years with no issues. With our cars, power completely shuts down after 5 minutes of turning the car off so battery drain is not an issue. If you do however want to use the full capability of parking mode, you will have to install a backup battery.

Haven’t looked at the U3000 specs but I’m sure they’ve made some good enhancements. The recording and playback quality excellent and 2nd to none in my opinion.
