This is what BMW needs to do, focus on the small things to really differentiate M cars from the normal line up. When the F10 M5 was released, BMW used a 5er steering wheel with m badge at the bottom. Really BMW?

How about differentiating the cars by giving them class leading dynamics and steering feel and unique race tech inspired drivetrains . Nah too expensive put more m badges on it , give it a CF roof and some nice seats and people will go woot woot .

BMW's marketing team strategy in a nut-shell. The M is so watered-down now - might as well turn it upside-down as "W" for WATERED-DOWN.

Back to the original thread subject, I am liking the stance of this new M5.

I think this is the key. Driving dynamics aside, there isn't much more that is important than differentiation. BMW will never satisfy everybody with one formula and I applaude them for using things like adaptive suspension to their advantage. Some people say they want a hardcore M5, other's like the fact that it has split personalities.

If they can differentiate it more than Mercedes and Audi differentiate the AMG and RS cars from the regular vehicles, they will always win. Most buyers look for the little things because we already know we're buying a superior product.

Can't quite tell if it's running on next-gen Michelin Pilot Sport 4S prototypes.
Should be, since the PS4S will replace the PSS in a few months.

Definitely the PS4S. You can tell by the way the Michelin logo looks, it's their new look

Funny.
The BMW M equation used to be power + handling = driving experience.
"The Ultimate Driving Machine" made even more ultimate.

Now there's an extra layer of superficial glamor on top of that.
So you can impress other people. Outside the car, even.

I agree. I already posted in an M2 whiners thread about tires that I don't think the pilot 4s will be on the M2. More than likely the first tire designed for a BMW with the pilot 4s will be the M5.

Those seats don't look as comfy as the F10 M5 seats... They look as un-comfy as the F13 M6 ones.

I'll try to make my first and only set of PSS last until March (2 or 3 months after I get my M2).
That's when the PS4S will arrive in the US.
