This is what mine looks like on, it comes off quick and you can orientate it to not obstruct PDC. but i'm poor, so no PDC so for me.
Doesn't PDC come stock on M's? What do you mean no PDC for you? Also, how do you orient it so it doesn't interfere with PDC?

I special ordered mine. no pdc, rear view camera, leather, leds, blah blah blah. i only wanted one option, EDC. and it's perfect AF.

as for the bracket, because of all the holes, you can mount it in a way where it's in between the sensors.

Best front license plate holder for M3?

Hi all,

I've looked around and there are a few different kits that mount the front license plate to the tow hook, so you don't have to drill holes.

Does anyone have experience with them and can comment?

Turner motor sport, $79.95

http://www.usmillworks.com/ , $149.00 (white, lightened + quick release)

http://www.pedalhaus.com/quickrelease.html , $69

This is going on a mineral white M3 with PDC.

Thanks

I've used US Millworks before with good results. Only issue I have had is triggering the PDC.

Non PDC, and I went with the cheapest option which was pedalhaus tow hooker. I have it for an year, no problems at all. But again I don't have PDC.

Check out Sto N Sho. They make 2 mounting points. One just under the bumper that puts the plate at bumper height.
http://shop.bigmikesperformanceparts...3-M2-SNS67.htm
And one that mounts under the car that puts the plate in air intake. I don't think the lower one will work with a front lip.
http://shop.bigmikesperformanceparts...-M2-SNS67a.htm
Don't know why the second link doesn't work but it's called the alternate mounting point.

I've had both US mill works and Sto N Show... USM makes some seriously quality product - but can be a pain to deal with PDC... Can be done but with a bit of delicacy...

Sto N Show is perfect for me and looks better than the off center plate... IMO... and I like how you can just pop it off with a quickness...

anyone try this one?

Ultimate ECS Tow Hook Mount License Plate Kit
it swivels . Not sure if this is better for preventing other cars from hitting bumper when parking. It may not crack when being bumped however.

how does the millworks hold up against being hit. does it protect bumper at all?
Is there any flex or will it crack?

The piece is solid as a rock since it's made out of billet aluminum I believe. Sits very close to the bumper but even with a lot of force, I can't get it to budge. Also doesn't trigger the PDC. You just need to spend some time making sure you install it properly and tighten everything down and make sure everything is aligned. I think it's purposely aligned to sit close to the bumper to avoid triggering the pdc.

I intended on using US millworks for the F80 from my F30. I needed a different stem, which I purchased. It still just didn't fit perfectly, and I found minor adjustments were difficult. Regardless, it's an excellent product, and very high quality.

I replaced it with the Sto N Show, and I absolutely love it. It's so easy to use, and the quick disconnect is fantastic. My only complaint is mounting... I spent a good hour marking out the center of the car with painter's tape, just so I could get the exact location perfect. Fortunately it's a one and done - so the hard work payed off and looks great.

I hate how the regular number plates cover the front bumper...

I got a "Sports Number Plate" here in Dubai that you just stick on the front bumper with 3M double sided tape

Here is mine:

I tried to install us millworks but the bolt seems too short.
Not sure if they sent me the wrong one.
I have a 18 m4.
Still waiting to hear back from them.

Can you post a picture from above to show how much clearance there is?

I thought that too. It's designed to be short on purpose. Any longer and you will trigger the parking sensor right next to it.

It's too short for my taste especially when the main purpose of me getting the US Mill bracket was to quickly put on and remove the entire thing for street parking in the city. Since it's so short, it takes me 15 minutes to adjust the bracket every time to make sure it doesn't touch the bumper which is ridiculous.

My technique is to remove the pins and use the plate as a wrench to loosen the bolt without fully turning it and hitting the bumper. Then take off the plate and unscrew the bolt by hand.

I think the Sto and Sho is the way to go. If you use the bottom mount, you can use the existing holes / screws under the splitter: no new holes.

Hmmm ... looks good but the website does not say how that large bolt is engaged to the BMW.
is it screwed to the tow-socket?
