New Rear Drag Setup

This is for my M8 but since wheels are interchangeable on M5/M8 and way more folks are modding M5’s figured I’d post here. Got my new drag setup rear shoes ready to go. Wheels were widened to 11” to squeeze a 325/30/20 R888R on. Since the widening process widens the wheel towards the inside it should be very close fitment to my current 12mm spacer on stock setup. These are in prep for big build which I have been planning for the last 4-5 months and should be hopefully starting in a couple weeks. I’ll be posting a separate thread in case anyone wants to follow along as we will be doing a lot of “firsts” on this project. Build goal is 1200whp on e85

For a dedicated drag setup, there are definitely better/stickier tires out there for straight line performance. Even the Toyo Proxes RR would be a better tire and still a great tire for road course as well.

Yeah i did almost go with the RR’s but these will see a little bit of street driving and the off chance they see rain i wanted to have a little bit of a chance making it home

Next step from these will be down sizing from carbon ceramic brakes and fitting a 17” wheel with a proper drag radial

Good luck with the triple 8s on the street. I've used them in the past for road course tracking, and they are loud as $hit! And those were only 235s on a 1er!

I use RA1 on my turbo E36 M3, but I don’t think they are available in a size that fits the F90. I wanted a very sticky somewhat civilized tire that could handle rain if needed. I used to drag race them though they are too stiff to be an ideal drag tire. I did not really like driving on spongy drag radials and like my cars to perform any day not just when it has special tires, a special tune and special fuel.

Yes and yes…car will be going in next Monday to get started. Will be a long process as there is a lot of custom fab work to be done especially for full frame turbo plumbing and manifold work
