ACG brake pads vs. stock
So I finally got my Porterfield Carbon/Kevlar pads from ACG put on the car, and the difference is pretty good so far. I want to caveat this by saying that I use the car as a daily driver, and can’t speak to their performance in track conditions. Also, I have only had them on the car for about 150 miles, so I can’t say what the long term results will look like. Having said that, I am not embarrassed anymore when stopping. It no longer sounds like a school bus coming to a stop, yay! I can't tell a difference between the stopping power of these pads versus the stock ones either.
In regards to brake dust, its still there, but no where near as bad as the stock pads. Below are two videos that I made. The first one is on the stock pads, wheels washed, and with 100 miles of driving. The second video is the same conditions, but on the ACG pads. I have had these for about 4K miles and, so far, so good. No noise and less dust.

Yes, I have these pads and no more brake noise. There are many owners who are still putting up with squeaking steel brakes, get these pads and stop the madness.

These are porterfield brake pads, anyone can install them, its no different then installing a different brand pad. The issue with the rear pad had been fixed as i verified this with porterfield staff at their production facility in Costa Mesa, CA when i placed my order earlier this year.
Pads eliminate noise entirely but not the dust, although its significantly improved over stock, i also did not notice any performance drop over stock pad. I'm curious to see dust levels on "Powerstops" once they release them hopefully end of this year, if we rely on historical data their pads produce nearly no dust.. but performance may suffer a bit so it will be interesting to compare. Also their price point should be much cheaper than overpriced Porterfields.. |

They didn't have problems with it, I totally expected them to make a big deal about aftermarket pads but nope. They over quoted me at first saying it would cost $250 per axle but once the work was done they said it went much faster than expected and only had me pay for the hours the tech actual spent on the brakes.

ACG sent me pads they know we're not manufactured properly. I still don't have rear brake pad sensors installed because of it. They never bothered to go anything about it despite numerous calls and email.
WTF kind of company sends out defective product at this price point then just shrugs it off? ACG...that's who. YMMV...good luck with that.

Almost forgot...they still squeal.
At least the dust is reduced. As long as I check the wear before the pads get low and destroy the rotors it should be ok. *eye roll*

Important, these after market pads have to be bedded correctly when first installed. If not, performance will not be optimal.

ACG is made by Porterfield.....The loud brake squeal noise and crazy black brake dust is due to the cheap oem pads they use.........I had the issues and fixed it by replacing the pads with Porterfields r4s street pads...just call them and order direct.....now I have zero squeal and less dust

I had the new pads by porterfield installed a couple of days ago at Autotalent I have definitely noticed a difference in stopping power, noise reduction and a lot less dust, definitely better than how they were before it was sounding like a school bus
