Anyone in MA with a tune?

What's the story with times and MA state inspection? Hear you fail state inspection if car has a tune.

Is that because it throws a check engine light?

Anyone experience any issues in MA getting an inspection recently and running a tune?

tune all about the o2 sensor...thats what will fail emissions in mass

if you do it, you want one of the devices that allows you to return to stock to then get your sticker, then refresh it back

its a pia...i've done it before on a few cars, won't again...too much work

You pass the emissions you are good to go. It’s tint, reflectors etc. that was added a few years ago that is problematic. Here are the regulations:

No reason you can't pass inspections if you have Bootmod3 (allows you to go back to stock)
jairomvp182 had BM3 on his F10 M5 and F90

I'm sure you got your answer to this question seeing this is an old post. However for those that actually use the search feature, I figured I'd leave some info....

I too live in MA & was able to pass a State Inspection with a tune on my 650i (F13). I had a custom tune from Turner Motorsports. I had to reinstall my stock downpipes, drove to inspection station, passed & reinstalled the downpipes.

I have an M5C now & will only be doing secondary DPs. I've learned my lesson haha

I would not expect any issues with a tune and stock down pipes.
