No surprises here, really. Drag race came down to traction. And the BMW brakes are spot on.

I wonder if Mat will hit the 100 launch limit on the M5 soon.

Fuck, I couldn't imagine getting smoked in a red light race in my half-million dollar Ferrari by a sedan.

By the time the 812 catches up most real world impromptu city races are over.

Most real world races aren't from a dig. M5CS is impressive but it got destroyed on the roll

It's real. Lots of folks on the forum have hit it and seen a change in the transmission's behavior on launch control. Really unfortunate, too as there's no known way to reverse it.

Can it get any sillier?

1) these are orthogonal markets, or at least they have minimal overlap.

2) drivers in either price bracket aren't typically drag racing from red lights.

3) the meta concept of this video is click bait for pre-adolescents and fast and furious fans.

My takeaway:

-I really miss naturally aspirated engines.
-I wonder how much power BMW could squeeze out of a NA 3.2L6 now a days if emissions regulations weren't a concern.
-that Ferrari is insanely overpriced.

Totally agree. While I have a car that does 0-60mph in 2 flat from a dig i have never raced anyone on the street at a stoplight. Most traffic deaths occur from people running red lights. If in front of the line at an intersection, I am letting the car next to me go first. They can be the statistic.

Curious what u think about the M8? I dumped mine after 6 months. I can't imagine it is that much different than the M5CS since they put up similar track/accel numbers. But I do acknowledge they dull down the M8 for the masses and they can make the CS razor sharp.

An 812 owner isn't worried about a red light race against an M5. Nor should they be.

Can you elaborate on this or point me to an article or thread? Not close to 100 uses but my X3 M40i is definitely getting some use..

Agreed and at the end of the day.. I think they really compliment each other these cars. They could not be more different in the way they perform and make you feel. And not sure what 812SF owner could not also buy an M5CS if they wanted
