Exclamation Individual M5 competition 2021 - problems with Driving Assistant Professional

Good afternoon! I order M5 competition 2021 in Individual color Nardo Gray and this is the answer from the BMW office:

"Please note that lane change assist (Blind Spot Assist) is not available when ordering a bmw individual color in conjunction with Option 5AU / Driving Assistant Professional."

In general, if you order this color, then the control of blind spots will not work.
Maybe someone knows about this? Or faced such a problem? And will the rest of the Professional assistants work in my car?

Super strange. Maybe it’s from interference with the Unobtanium flakes in the metallic paint?

Did they say it was just that particular individual color or all individual color in general. I’ve heard of certain steering wheel options interfering with certain assists feature but never a color.

All 490 individual color have the same issue.

The function will be decoded by option 8TR.

I ordered Nardo Gray as well and looked into this. Based on what I could find, it appears it has to do with the thickness of the paint. I believe the individual paints is 150-200u and the doc below states that it cannot be over 150u or it may malfunction

Thank you for the information.
It turns out that if the function is decoded, then it can be re-encoded when I get the car?

I’m guessing it’s de-coded because the thicker paint results in a ton of false positives which would be pretty annoying to deal with.

Could also be the opposite which would be less annoying but also less safe and therefore more of a liability, being the reason BMW chose to de-code it.

Either way, not ideal performance.

I assume the paint is thicker as the car is hand sprayed rather than via machine ?
Strange that the sensors work behind the plastic bumpers but a few microns of paint are enough to make it unreliable hence removing that feature.

This was a consideration before I chose an individual color (Hockenheim Silver) but all it disables is the lane change assistant which has the car automatically change lanes when the auto steer and cruise system is on. It's really a worthless feature because when I have the cruise on, it's simple to just change lanes. You don't need the system to do that.

Another reason I am glad I got Alpine White, this is bizarre.
