H&R springs?
Hi
Anyone have the H&R spring setup? What are your thoughts? any regrets for not getting coilover? I don't plan to keep my car for too long..at most 2 years, so shocks longevity is less of an issue..don't plan to track it either..just want a subtle lowered look without the hassle of worrying bottoming out and scrapping the bottom. Thanks, Derek

I never had an H&R spring before but i do know they probably sit the lowest among other lowering springs like eibach. But the drop isn't too low till you'll scrap everytime. As for the ride, many members here say that they're definitely more stiff than other lowering springs too.

Do it. The ride isn't bad and it looks great.

I have H&R sport springs on Fit and E90...and I love them!
They are better if you have performance shocks to go with them......like Koni Yellow & Tokico.

Seems like H&R springs are back ordered everywhere. Too bad no replacement struts are available for xi...waiting to see if Bilstein will come up with one soon enough.

I'm running the h&r sport springs on my 325xi. It was supposedly a 1.3 drop in the front and a 1.2 drop in the rear, but ended up being more of a 2 inch drop. Maybe they meant 1.2/1.3 inch drop on a normal "i" suspension (even if the springs were for xi models). The ride was a bit stiffer and sportier with much less body roll, the downside of course is that when I hit a dip in the road or a sudden drop or raise in height the car gets bouncy(rear passengers might bump their heads on the ceiling). I guess that's what I get for being a cheap bastard and not buying the full suspension. Also, I had to roll my fenders once I put wide aftermarket wheels because of the suspension lowering more than expected. Hope this helps.
As for the H&R springs being backorder everywhere...I ran into the same problem, then I called all the local tuning shops in montreal and managed to find a set at one of them (cost me 390$ when I paid cash). |

for the local guys in Ontario, there's a brand new h&r "i" specific in the Canada classifieds for CAD$200 picked up or plus shipping.
