Ya there’s multiple tuners I had forgotten about dinan. Will look into that one as well, I think it’s fine if maintenance is done correctly and fuel system flushed with regular gasoline or even 100 octane every now and then

I don’t know that Dinan is the best tuner; just that they have an E85 tune and say you can run straight E85. Their tube is actually for E60 since E85 varies at the pump. If Dinan can do it, you would think others can but most tuners don’t go more than E40 and RK, which seems to do a lot with these cars, sells a cam that spins the HPFP faster to flow more.

Ya I feel like running full E as is stock will dramatically effect the life of the car. Don’t have enough test dummies out there to refer to lol

All right, OP to run Full E85 on the F90 platform you’ll need S63TU EXHAUST CAM DIRECT INJECTION UPGRADE from RKautowerks.

I have been running the Dinan E85 tune for about a year with no issues. The only thing I have been doing is adding some E fuel treatment with every fill up.

That’s a great idea. Will definitely look into that

as far as i know , Dinan does not offer an E85 tune.
You can add some E85 to any tune, even stock but i would not call it an E85 tune since its not taking full advantage of the E85. Unless im mistaken and Dinan now offer dedicated E85 maps

Dinan posted in a recent thread about its E85 tune. https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1883732&page=5

Wouldn't an e85 tune be crazy expensive in fuel cost? I pay $12 a gallon on average for my e85. I buy it in 5 gallon pails from ignite or VP racing fuels. That is the only way to get true e85. If you're tuned for E85 and an E85 pump gives you E65 or E55 thats going to be a problem.

Along with the tune you have to have an ethanol analyzer installed on your vehicle. You can't use the e85 test kit tubes that they sell on the internet to test for e85. Depending on how often a gas station turns over there e85, the tank gets a lot of water in it, therefore the test kits do not work. I.e. I used the RevX test tube and got readings as high as E90 with the water test kit. Fuel analyzer showed it was only E71.

Just seems like a true E85 tune would be a complete nightmare to maintain ethanol percentage.

E85 makes sense only for people who can buy it at local gas stations, where it is often cheaper than 93. And the Dinan tune is actually for E60 since gas station E85 varies in the E percentage.

Every gas station by me sells e85 all at $3.09 a gallon. Issue is, none of them are true e85. If the dinan is E60 that's obviously more manageable to maintain. All the gas stations by me average E70 to E75.

Most “e85” tunes keep in mind that majority of people just use pump fuel so it’s typically a range like e60-85 from what it looks like

Exactly. Most E85 tunes are E60 tunes because the tuner does not want to be blamed for blown engines when pump E85 isn’t really E85. I am sure you can get a custom E85 tune for E85 if you source VP or other race fuel E85.

Question... Why would you not use Halim or Utku for tuning your M5. They seem to be the top two that everybody uses in the M5 community.

Carry Jordan and Paul Johnson are big in the M3 community. Yes they will tune all cars, but they each have their specialty

If Halim and Utku don't offer e85 tune, you have to ask yourself why not?

Also, don't quote me on this, but if your fuel system is not set up for e85 (port injection), I believe you make less power with straight e85 than with a blend. I think this is due to fuel trims and timing that have to be adjusted to compensate.
