I just looked up the Porterfield R4S pads and they are pretty pricey but I would love to be able to get pads that dust far less than the stockers because they are ridiculously dusty! Do you have these pads?

Did you buy the parts from your local dealer at that price??
That price seems strangely low for 4 OEM carbon ceramic rotors and calipers. The brake dust becoming a problem also makes no sense unless they are aftermarket. I have 27k miles on my 2018 with CCBs with brake dust consistently nearly non-existent the whole time. Nothing adds up here.

Guess I should clarify my previous post. I didn't do the CCB replacement. I ended up just swapping out the pads for the Porterfields (hence brake dust coming back). In retrospect, I should have just had the CCB replacement done, and will probably go that route with my LCI unless a ceramic pad option becomes available. In regards to the pricing, that is what my SA quoted me at the time, so that is all I have to go on.

Ya... I agree... I was quoted $6000 CDN for just ONE front rotor...

Had a few sets of ccb on some of my past cars. Love the way you can just abuse the shit of of them and they keep stopping better. But they are fragile, you can chip one very easily and it gets costly. When it comes time for me to change the stock steel brakes, I'm hopefully there is an after market steel rotor package out there that offers a lower weight than the stock oem.

I've looked and haven't been successful, but if you find a setup, please do share it. I'm paranoid about having any service done that requires wheel removal. One careless tech that doesn't realize how fragile they are could chip one without even knowing what they just did. They're used to working with steel rotors.

It’s been done. There is a retrofit kit for it in the UK. Cost is approx £12,000 from memory. Includes callipers, rotors, pads and a new master cylinder. If you look up the parts database you’ll see that there’s two different part numbers for the master cylinder. One for CCBs and one for std brakes.

And if they did chip one, they might not tell you. I change wheels twice a year for winter and would not be happy if I made a $6000 mistake.

Lug bolt wheel hangers make it much safer removing and installing wheels.

Master cylinder and brake lines are the sae, you need different backing plates and the brake booster changing. You'd get away without coding I'd imagine.

Note though, for some unknown reasons there isn't a retrofit kit for the LCI, only pre.

Do you have to remove the wheel bearings to install rotor backing plates on these cars like you do on some other BMWs?
