Cost to install springs/H.A.S?

Whats up folks -- wondering what some of you guys have paid for install/labor rates to install your HAS?

Looking at a few different kits, but essentially all the same labor to install regardless of manufacturer -- Just for shits and giggles I reached out to my service advisor at BMW to see what they would charge to install to maintain warranty if I went with the M Performance setup, and they want $3300 in labor alone.

That is the only barometer I have thus far; so trying to get some feedback on what you fellas have paid.

Thanks!

Curious what your understanding of the warranty is. My read was that BMW will warranty the part for 2yrs regardless of who installs it but will warranty the part and install if a dealer installs it and that would be for greater of 2yrs and your original purchase warranty.

I think as is with anything, any dealership tries to get out of replacing something if they can, because it saves them/makes them money.

if you start altering suspension, and them something drivetrain related rises about and common sense would tell you that its covered under warranty -- until the dealer tells you that it wont be covered because you altered your suspension which in turn has a ripple effect on the drivetrain, etc.

My understanding that is if the part is purchased and installed by the dealer, you will have zero issues with anything, ever regarding any warranty items at all.

Yeah that makes sense. They could always argue the install caused the part failure if they didn’t do the install.

My understanding is from this Q&A:
BMWBLOG: Is there any restriction on the warranty?
Gordon McDonnell: No. What we do with any of the accessories – and M performance Parts are included in these – is if you buy the part over the counter, there’s basically a two year unlimited warranty for the part. But if you buy it and have it installed at your BMW center, the part carries the same warranty as the vehicle, so it would be the 4-years / 50,000miles, or 2-year unlimited, whichever is greater. So we fully stand behind those parts for the period of time the car has warranty.

There we go, so that is what I was ensinuating prior. I have a feeling that if you bought the part not from BMW, and had it installed elsewhere -- and lets say that a shock went out, they'd blame it on improper install and not warranty the shock lol. But my dealer is quoting $3500 for install, so regardless -- I think i'm opting out of that..

3500 is ridiculous.. I got a quote from a local dealer for 1400. Which is still a lot for spring/has kit so will probably go independent.

My guy at the dealer/service is saying that the labor rates are mandated by BMW based on location, cost of living, etc. He had a client that got quoted from a dealership in Tenessee vs. here in South Florida and the dealership was cheaper in TN vs. here..

IDK...
