2020 or 2022 M5C

Thoughts on purchasing a 2020 CPO M5C in rhodington grey with comp and executive package and B&W speakers; 4K miles; $99k

I have a preorder on 22 M5C in frozen bluestone metallic with the same configuration without the B&W for 120k

Unsure what to do?! HELP

I have a 2019 (pre-LCI) M5C now and have made the decision to move to a 2022 M5C vs. buying out the lease on my current car. BMW made a number of little enhancements (suspension, tranny, iDrive, and others) that add up to a big overall improvement with the LCI car. Greer's post sums it up well:

You really can't go wrong either way, both great cars, but if you're planning on a long term keeper I'd go with the new 2022. If you tend to flip cars quickly, then from a financial perspective you're probably safer with the 2020.

Yes, the smoother and more compliant ride in the 2022 M5 Comp which has the dampers from the M8 is the reason to go for the LCI.

Thanks for the input yall. I'm pretty sure I'm sticking to the 2022 at this point. If I'm going to pay 100k+ for a car, might as well be the EXACT spec I want. This has always been the DREAM car for me so I want it to be perfect. It appears I have my answer.

Also, I've been thinking of switching the extended Aragon to full Aragon and also adding CCB to my build. I'm mostly going back and forth on the CCBs. I plan on keeping the car for a long time so a little concerned about cost of replacement.

Full leather is worth it on a car this expensive. It's such a small percentage of the total cost, and it's such a high end machine that going extended just looks wrong IMHO.

Why no B&W? While it isn't the best sounding system available, it's not bad either and it also makes a big difference to the looks of the interior.

As for CCBs, if you're not planning to track the car regularly, the brakes will likely outlast your ownership experience. Personally, they aren't worth the cost to me, but there are distinct benefits for sure:
+ No corrosive brake dust
+ Significantly lighter than steelies
+ Extremely low wear rate on the street

Drawbacks:
- Can squeak pretty loudly when cold or wet
- Can be grabby and harder to modulate, again exacerbated in the cold
- Expensive to opt in, and even more expensive to replace... will not last as long as steelies if regularly tracked

B&W is no longer an option for new builds at this time. They've pulled it as of two days ago.

I hear you can ask your dealer to add it and BMW let's some be accepted. Happened to a guy on M8 board.

They said not available then dealer added it and the add was accepted

On my 2022 M5 Competition the CCB's are not grabby and hard to modulate and they do not squeak at all. They feel absolutely perfect and the stopping power is spot on! The lack of brake dust is an extra bonus

Also note that MY'21> have the digital key/smartphone access if that's something you like. This can't be retrofitted to earlier models from what I read.

Yup, seem to be YMMV issues. Hence the "can". Glad yours don't have those problems!
