HUD malfunction after dealer update

Had software update for recall 160420 tank ventelation diagnoses. Corrected by 0012470500 program control units per service invoice on 07/15/21. HUD is now super dim in the day and super bright at night. Dealer says caused by software update and tried to correct with new update 623002500, did not fix problem. BMW NA is aware of problem and states new update will be available end of August to fix. The 2nd update was done on 8/3/21. What a pitha! Hope they fix it, I love HUD.

I can confirm this . I made to update in order to fix the error for the brake lights after retrofitting the LCI tail lights , and yes the HUD is almost invisible .

On the other hand , i can confirm that the update made a better ride . At first i thought that is placebo , but today after i was talking with my garage about the problem with the HUD they have confirmed to me that the adaptive dampers had been updated .

I also noticed the car rides smoother over bumpy roads, Is there any way to actually see what these updates change?

Have the same issue with hud. Dealer informed me there is another software update coming to fix it here in the US maybe by the beginning of Sept.
Wish I'd never done the recall

I'm not doing the recall even though BMW won't give me a buyout on my lease unless I do it.

NJBMW17… do you still feel like the entire car is "off" as per your other post?

Did they change the Sensor in the windshield (there are TWO) which must MUST be the correct part number. I had the exact same issue. They replaced my window shield and installed the wrong sensor. Excuse was the part in the box did not match the part number on the box, TWICE RIGHT! SURE.

In bright sun the display was too dim, yet at night very bright. After going back and forth with Dealer I bought the CORRECT part on line and installed it myself.

FYI the seal for it is attached to the windshield and does not have sticky side against the sensor, so you can quickly DIY change it without the worry of getting a new seal. Those seals are NOT easy to come by. They come ON the new windshield. Hope you get it sorted out.

Dealer never mentioned a sensor problem, claims it is a software issue that should be fixed by the end of August. HUD issue happened after first software upgrade.

Had a new software update the dealer said was released last week and it fixed the HUD problem finally. The new software update did not change any of my settings and the exhaust still pops.
