M5 CS on order
Received an allocation for an October build (fingers crossed) for my M5 CS.
Now that things are getting a bit more real, I'm researching the nuts & bolts and am curious about the carbon ceramic brakes. I've read statements that they will effectively last the lifespan of the car "under normal driving conditions" while others have stated you'll burn through both pads and rotors in "2-3 track days". Both statements seem hyperbolic. Does anyone have real-world experience with ccb and lifespan with both normal driving conditions as well as a few track days? |

The CCBs are standard in the M5 CS.

^^^ correct, you have no choice if you want a CS, the reason people dont use them for tracking is the rotors are expensive and if you runoff into gravel and get the wheels full you could damage them because they are fragile, I think if you autocross and do an occ driving event theyre fine, if your a hard core track guy, buy a different car to fulfill that need like a GT3, The ceramic rotors are great no brake dust and much lighter, real race teams use them because money is no object for them.

Plenty of track days (15+) in my M4GTS on the standard CCB rotors and pads.
Biggest advise I can give is replace the pads at 50% remaining pad (on track) as any less would increase the heat significantly, which can cause the fibers in the rotors to wear faster. Ensure proper cool down laps + around the paddock too

If you don't use them on track, they will probably last forever. We were never able to document almost any weight reduction under street use. Shawn |
