Wait a tad longer for the revs to settle, from my experience you can wait almost 3 seconds, FYI.

Thing is with launch control the car always needs to meet the parameters to do it. example everything hot and ready and driven around for approx. 10 Miles at least according to the manual.

First attempt appears to be in D3 and 2nd S3, did you shift yourself in S3? From what I thought I read in manual, the car needs to be in Sequential, in order to properly launch. Maybe that's why first failed, cause was in D??

With my '16 F10 550i Msport, all would have to be in sport plus D, then simply mash the pedal, then throttle and let loose! Different animal though..

Mine has short shifted like that into second. Not always though. My guess is when you get a lot of wheel speed at the hit, the dme knows from the wheel speed sensors and it short shifts . If your track is prepped, that will go away.
