Lol I used to be the same..changing it when it crossed my mind. Then ordered from Amazon a couple years ago and setup for subscribe & save so they were automatically delivered every 2 months….easy enough reminder to change it when one arrives at the front door.

Ended up switching to the K&N washable filter earlier this year and really happy with the quality of the filter and the filtration it provides.

Gotta love builders that half ass jobs though. the fan box wasnt secured so had to crawl around in the attic.

This sounds SO cool (where do they go???) but then *I* worry that that function is going to malfunction, and then where am I?

"I'm sorry, you didn't specify you want the SECURED fan boxes, you only order fan boxes. SECURED fan boxes run an extra $799, as a change order."

Weekend project. Chopped up a few leftover floorboards and replaced all my builder grade metal vents with Aria vents.

Only way to do the grain the same direction for some of them was to cut multiple boards and then there would be a seam in the insert. Possible, but a lot more effort so I opted not to.

So now if you walk on them, are they flatter under foot? Do you still get plenty of air flow?

Yes they are very flush with the floor. They are drop in vents so there's about a 1/8" lip, but that's all. Aria Vent also makes cut-in versions that are perfectly flush, but they have to installed with the floor and my builders were idiots and forgot I asked for them.

There are bendable metal flaps under the vent so you can open or close it if you want. Fully open the airflow is the same as traditional louvered vents.

The people I bought my house from installed a new AC unit in the laundry room, which started heavily sweating & kicking off since it was trying to cool down the entire garage, besides the house. Their solution: don't enclose the double-door entrance to the laundry, but create a large mud room 8' into the single car garage, that loses tons of air/energy. Also, in doing so, now making the garage small enough that a Miata can barely fit.
Time to take the garage back to make space for the F10. Still have to take down the rest of the wall. Have to Re-run electrical (as there are no outlets in the garage once wall is gone). Also have to run electrical to the garage door (currently mechanical) so I can get a motor put on and install wall sconces on the outside.
Then have to have the floor re-leveled with concrete. The geniuses that enclosed what was originally a carport sloped the floor inward, so I've had flooding issues on this plywood wall that I've just removed.

BEST PART - this entire project cost me $0.00 so far. I've re-used beams for door frame, re-used the door, and re-used insulation!!

**STUPID APP PUT ALL THE PICTURES OUT OF ORDER AND THERE'S NO WAY TO CORRECT IT**
Pic #4 - Looking into "mudroom" at the door to the garage that will be removed
Pic#3 - Looking from garage, through doorway, into mudroom/laundry
Pic#1 - Door removed & framing for laundry double doorway done
Pic#2 - Inside of laundry room to show the insulated new doorway
Pic#5 - New laundry room door all closed up - even re-using the drywall to frame around the door.

Wife and I brought a 18 year old home and did a complete renovation. I moonlighted as GC, while working my regular gig. Childhood friend was my main carpenter and advisor. Happy to report we are still friends. Project took 6 months due to COVID. Yes, we added shiplap! System let me add more pics.

My basement finish from a few years ago. I did everything except the drywall and carpet.

Before:

After:

This is just the theater room. It also has a billiards room, bar, craft room, gym and bathroom for about 1,800 additional finished square feet.

More photo's of our project. Important note, the front door handle is black now.

To embarrassed to show the garage. Started by having 200 amp panel run and EV charger installed. The previous owner did not finish it. I ran out of the green stuff for now.
