New X3 owner

Good morning. New to this section. I just traded my 2020 M340i for a gorgeous X3 with Premium, M sport package, Shadowing and Parking Assist.

It is the 30i S drive. This is my 3rd BMW. I find myself needing the space more and more. I will miss the extreme performance of the B58, but I found that I didn't really use the power that much. I took an extensive test drive yesterday, and and more than happy with this vehicles acceleration.

Tips, tricks and hidden features are much appreciated.

Congrats on the new car. Looks like a nice build. Love the extended shadowline on white.

The 30i is not a slow car. It can out-accelerate almost every car sold when I was a youth.

Enjoy!

however, you will miss the engine feel of the previous M340i IMO, surprised on the downgrade

None the less enjoy it

It is not a "downgrade". It is a different set of attributes that the OP prefers. Neither choice is objectively better nor worse. Each person can subjectively decide their own preference.

Not a downgrade for me, just different. I had a 230i prior to the M340, I am well aware of the differences. For my use, the premium for the B58 was not worth it.

This is basically a new 23, only 5k miles and never registered. Was a loaner. $56k vehicle for $47.3k

Exactly! I just returned from driving about 800 miles in Germany/Austria in an M3C with a very high output powertrain. It's neither a better nor worse car than the X3 30i. It just has a different set of attributes that fit the Autobahn environment very well and would be somewhere between wasted and uncomfortable (suspension firmness on US roads) for me here. Objective "Upgrade", "downgrade", "better", and "worse" are all fallacious concepts. The only reality is individual preference. Enjoy your new X3!

I disagree—there's a clear distinction between the base entry-level X3 3.0, the X3 M40i, the X3 M, and the X3 MC. Each model is designed with a specific type of driver in mind, so moving from a higher to a lower model would mean sacrificing performance and other features exclusive to the upper-tier models. While the base model is still excellent, it doesn't offer the same feel or performance as the others. It's interesting how some people feel compelled to justify purchasing the base model. I'm fortunate to have a fleet that meets all my family's needs. Enjoy your beautiful car. SORRY

"Good/better/best" has been a flawed idea sold to consumers for generations to enhance profits. The steps of adding content result in just being different, not qualitatively objectively "better". Having more of something is just more, but not inherently superior. Some may prefer more of a traded-off attribute or not value the attribute to want more of it. There is no need to justify a decision when any other decision was within reach, but rejected for personal subjective preference reasons. I found it unfortunate that the OPs set of preferences was labeled as a "downgrade" simply for being different than others' preferences, thus this conversation tangent.

I understand your point; my use of the term "downgrade" was specifically in reference to performance metrics, which are quantifiable. The 3.0 model is often regarded as a base model due to several factors, including its performance limitations. Ultimately, the most important aspect is your satisfaction with your purchase. If you are pleased with what you've chosen, that's what truly matters. As evident from my current fleet, performance is a significant priority for me.

With that definitional intent, I now understand your earlier post. Yes, it is a lower performance level vehicle.

Hence the "Downgrade" from his previous m340i to the base model x3 3.0

It's more interesting how some feel compelled to attempt to denigrate someone else's choice. I don't know if the 30i is base, it has more equipment than my m340i had, just a smaller engine.

But if it makes you feel better to belittle my choice, I support you. Need a hug, too?
