how effective is the steering wheel vibration

Hello everyone,
steering wheel supposed to vibrate to alert you with lane departure, cars in blind spot, question is, do you feel it actually "alerts" you, i think it is too light and i barely notice it.
any comments? similar experience?

I notice it significantly more than in my F10. However, I agree with you that it could be a good bit more. I had a Cadillac loaner car a while back and the seats would also vibrate under the same conditions. That was kind of neat.

Had a Genesis G80 before F90 and the steering wheel vibration was alot better on genesis but probably felt more on that car as the ride was not as stout as the M5. The blind spot assist is way better also with audible and visual alert on HUD. the little dot on side view mirror is pretty lame.

if im not mistaken you can adjust the sensitivity of the steering wheel vibration through the settings in the IDrive. Mine comes on once I reach around 40 mph.

From the Owner’s Manual:

Setting the force of the steering wheel vibration

Via iDrive:

1. "My Vehicle"
2. "Vehicle settings"
3. "Steering wheel vibration"
4. Select the desired setting. The setting is applied to all Intelligent Safety systems and stored for the driver profile currently used.

I like it. I usually drive at night so it helps when I enter warp speed and the lanes become blurry

I'm not sure why they didn't add an audible cue as well or at least have that as an option. For the backup protection, there is an audible beep and if you are coming up on a car too fast, it will beep. But not for the blind spot warning. Weird.

Interesting idea. I have a friend with an aftermarket LDW system. It beeps waaaaaaay too much to the point where it becomes useless. The yellow warning lamps in the side mirrors are good enough for me.

thanks for all the replies, i have mine at the highest setting and yet think it should be more noticeable. And an audio cue would be also good for sure.
might ask my service adviser to "check" it next time
