Just go to the dealership and buy it. They will ask what year/model car you own and select the correct one.

BMW HT-12 and is green. If you buy the BMW jug it is concentrated. Just mix 50/50 with distilled water. Is good for both engine and turbo cooling loops, that’s what I use to top mine off.

This is good advice. At some point there was a change from blue to green. You want to get the right one.

Not really. I got mine from the dealership, but researched before hand and found out about the change… Coolant change here

I knew I needed HT-12 but the dealership was swearing up and down it was blue. I even pull some from the cooland reservoir with a dropper to make sure it was green. Eventually told them to give me what I asked and got the right one.

Just look it up for yourself and don’t rely on the 1st thing the dealer tells you.

I agree, I just did not type in my complete experience. The first dealership I called verified the correct coolant. I think I got the correct part number off a BMW parts website. I then went to a closer location who told me the wrong type.

Can you go wrong by using the newer HT-12? I thought it was backwards compatible.

From ISTA:

Blue for F90 produced up to 7/31/2018.
HT-12 for F90 produced from 8/1/2018.

OP: Since your car is a 2019 it might be possible it was built before 8/1 which might be why different places gave you different answers. I think the change from 2018 to 2019 occurred on 8/1 though. You should be able to see if you have green or blue unless your level is really low. You can find your production date on the drive door jamb label.

Look at the compatibility image in the link. Green HT-12 is backwards compatible with the blue G48.

All the more reason to buy it from the dealership. If they give you the wrong one it's on THEM, not you.

Don't worry, when it leaks all over your injectors you will know which one to use!

Hey all! Just had a question. I get a slight coolant smell upon shutting car off in the garage. I constantly check for leaks, nothing there and never had a low coolant warning. Anyone else experience this?

My car is a 2020 and it’s got the blue stuff in it and to my knowledge always has (have owned since new). Maybe the dealer dumped it in with the green stuff so it’s hard to tell?

Would appear it doesn’t matter because they’re compatible with each other.
