1. Coolant level
2. Fuel pump
3. Extended warranty
4. Oil cooler cover
5. Proper tires

The two things I'd add are:
6. Paint protection/Expel
7. Winter wheels

I have to learn about #1, #2 and #4. I don't know anything about those.

I got an extended warranty through BMW to cover me up to 75k miles (may not have been the best value, but I did it) and I'm getting #6 taken care of for the entire exterior.

#7: winter tires on the original wheels or dedicated wheels for winter tires?

Thanks, all!
Dedicated. Do the swap at home plus you then have a full size spare if needed in an emergency.

Michelin Alpins on BBS wheels for the winter. 20's, 275 all around. No problem in the snow.

Not sure yet. Bought mine for Father's Day in 2018 and only have 4800 miles on it so far. Extended the warranty at purchase but have been looking at ECU tunes so that might have wasted that extra. So far it's been fun and is definitely a great car!

I can see there's a lot of short term lease folks on the board but I'm hoping to go the distance, 200k miles and upwards territory with careful maintenance. Words of wisdom? Unrealistic?
I purchased 7 years of warranty with my 2020 M5C

Haven't had it long, but absolutely loving it.

I just bought a winter wheel package, I did staggered 245/40/20 up front and 275/35/20 trying to keep it sensible for heavy snow falls. Only thing I found was finding wheels that would clear the front brakes.

That’s a great looking winter setup. What brand wheels are those? They look like Apex.

I'm loving my M5C every time I get in it but I do like new toys too. We will see once the warranty has a year remaining; still a few years away

They are from this company. Not exactly what I was hoping for but good enough for winters.

Friend, BMW M5 has been my dream car since 1990s and finally this year I was able to put my hands on one with great low mileage and great package. Black on black and I did ceramic pro gold package, PPI on the front bumper, lights, hood and roof. I will keep this one for years to come. Here are some pictures to see and enjoy it...

I'll be keeping mine for a looong time. The perfect car, imo.

Well, except for one small thing... no pre-heating in the cabin. I solved that with one of these that is programmed to my driving schedule https://www.millheat.com/mill-wifi/wifisocket-x4bkm
and a small fan heater with a thermostate and a safety button on the bottom (no need to switch it off when I take it out of the car - I just put it down on the garage floor on its side). When its below the freezing point, a pre-heated cabin is really really nice.

17,000 miles - just put on two new rear tires and got a second oil change. Stayed with the Pirellis because the front tires still had a lot of life left. No brake work needed. I'll change to Michelin when I can switch out all four. The sunroof stopped working at 10,000 miles, dealership had to restart the software, really easy fix. Love this car! It's been the perfect ride. I'll be putting winters wheels and tires back on it soon.

75.000 miles on my M5C since February 2020. I did a stage 1 10k miles ago, still running like in day 1. Probably will be my first car that I will keep it until it will break, it's great )

Nice.

In the past we have gotten a new car when the existing manufacturers warranty wore out.

This is my first M5 and I love it. With the way things are going, soulless heavy EV batteries, I am looking to keep the '21 M5 for either 6 or 7 years. Still trying to decide on which extended warranty to get, I know the repair costs on the M5 can be pretty bad.

You won’t have any major repair costs. I wouldn’t even get extended. And if you do just get something to cover all the electronics.. 2020 and up supposedly have a differently coating in the block. My old 14 m5 used to burn oil… new f90 no oil consumption. Biggest problem with these cars were burning oil but bmw seemed to figure something out on the f90 body. Very reliable platform I know someone with over 60k miles stage 2 tune and all he needed to do was replace rear diff… because of beating the day lights out of it

I may do the same for peace of mind when the time comes, even though the car seems super reliable so far. Based on what I am seeing in the forums, OEM extended warranty seems to make the most sense. Shop around with multiple dealers.

On my 2nd M5, first I drove 10K-51K, this one I'm at 34K (from 25). I drive about 25K/year unfortunately, so probably will take this one to 100K before I sell it.

I learned the hard way to never sell a good car. Other than the soft paint, my 2020 M5C had been bullet proof. So yes: I plan to keep it until I have to bury it.

My wife does that much a year as well. We just traded in our 2 year old X5 (just about at 50k miles) for a 9 month old CPO X6 to take advantage of the unlimited mileage warranty.

Yes, on the basis of the gargoylish design language of the next gen, coupled with--and compounded by--increasingly draconian noise regs that are (here in Europe) extracting most of the charisma from new V8s these days, I will certainly be looking to keep my F90 comp long term. I really couldn't care less about bhp figures going forward, since most bulbous, overpowered hybrid SUVs are going to be beating 3 secs in years to come anyway. In terms of super saloons, the current M5 gen is the pinnacle for the size of roads I have to deal with. Turning heads comes easy for the F90, and that's something to hold on to as we enter an ever more generic and surveillanced future when it comes to performance saloons.

Not bad, not bad! I'm 14k in 2.5 months myself haha and that's about to exceed 25 by the end of the year 😂
