JB4 install location
Hi guys, Who installed a JB4 and where did you place the control box?
The instructions indicate to install it under the plastic cover cowl passenger side (right where the positive battery rail is where you would boost your car from) Instructions say in extremely wet areas you can put the JB4 in a ziplock bag lol what is considered a "wet" area??? Seems like a lot of water can get in there as there are drains from the windshield channeled directly over that cover. Anyone has pics of where they installed their Jb4 control box? Or should I just put it in a ziplock bag to be safe? |

i Have lost one installed under there without plastic over it !! Its a real shame BMS cannot design a more appropriate enclosure , or at least give customers the option to purchase a more robust or waterproof enclosure.

It would make sense to make the enclosure waterproof... I guess a Ziplock bag it is... I'm not sure if condensation in a plastic bag would be worse but time will tell.

Guys - one division of my company makes harsh condition enclosures for electronics, basically plastic boxes that go in extreme applications like undersea that are completely impervious to the elements. If someone can post dimensions of the JB4 box along with diameter of the cable I can check and see if we have anything that would work.

This is something burger tuning should have though, maybe not COMPLETELY watertight... I mean the car isn't a submarine. Who knows though, maybe the box is already somewhat water resistant with its black cover. Looking at the drain channels MOST of the water from windshield drains way above the JB4 location, but I guess with a hard rain or snow/ice build up it could still get wet. I doubt a drip here or there will do any damage, it probably needs to be soaked to destroy it. |

The install location is fine. Just Velcro or zip-tie it away from the vent slats so water wont drop directly on it.
Not like this should add more value or reassurance, but Dinan's install procedure calls for their unit to be Velcroed to the same exact location. |

Location is fine. If you plan to leave the sub connected to the box for easy access make sure it does not touch the positive power there. That'll fry some stuff. Person experience unfortunately.

yeah the location seems fine. We've had some major rain the past few days over here and I opened up the cover and everything was bone dry. Guess I was just paranoid
