Buying LSD for 2011 335i e91
Hi There!
While I really like my 335i, I am appalled even after 3 years how little traction I get from my back wheels. In What is a 100K car in NZ, I can't believe BMW couldn't have provided something better. I have been told that the answer to my problems is a Limited Slip Diff, and I am considering the cost of that. I am trying to work out however if a LSD is going to significantly help me if I am not racing or driving track with this car? I drive it mostly around the city, relatively spiritly, but with traction control and the other defaults, turned ON and this is how I intend it. Does the LSD only benefit you if those are OFF? Typical scenarios I find frustrating, is sitting at an intersection, seeing a gap and wanting to cross through, accelerating (Not crazily) finding initial acceleration, loss of traction and engine power being cut, then I am sitting in the middle of the road! Other scenarios might be if I was cornering hard and the road surface was not even (but not because of gravel or anything else "moving") and the car "slipping" outward. Is an LSD going to improve the handling in those situations (I don't drift or drive the car THAT hard). Cost in NZ for an LSD is $1600++ Cheers |

Had a wavetrack for close to 6 years. Very happy
Might want to check your install cost. Will probably be 700-800 us and you will need orings and shims depending on mileage. The installer might have to pull the carrier out and set it up with the new lsd before knowing what shims are needed. Then you wait while they are shipped. If it were me, and i had a wagon, id just put about 30lbs onthe right side as far back and i could and see how much improvment that did |
