New Poll: Debadging

I've seen several threads about people debadging their cars - mainly 325's - either because they thought it was cool or they wanted it to look like a 330. If the rumored 328/335's come out in '07, the current models will look obsolete. Just out of curiosity, would like to see a new poll about people's thoughts on debadging.

There's no right or wrong answers, this is totally an issue of personal preference. Personally, I've been thinking about debadging my 330 just because it looks so damn cool - have you seen the E90 brochure lately?

Regards.

The only cars I wouldn't debadge are Porsches and Ferraris, IMO.

I removed the model no. badge from my 330i b/c I like the way it looked in pictures of others I saw like it, and I thought it added sort of a European feeling to the car (just my impression, valid or not). I did it now, because I figured that if I did it while the car was new then (1) it would be possibly easier to do and (2) the paint underneath the numeral badges would not have had time to fade - rather this is a real or theoretical concern I am not sure.

Anyway, I like the way it looks, and it definitely is nicer when detailing the car. I am unsure which I like better, but I don't have any plan to put the plastic numerals back on. As far as what others think, those that know the models will know that my car is a 330i b/c of the grill, chrome trim, and style 162 wheels. I don't think that those that don't know the cars don't really percieve the absence of a badge per se, but they do have to ask what model car it is. Badge or no badge, I've gotten many more spontaneous unsolicited comments and compliments on this car than any other I have owned, with most of them mentioning how nice the color is.

I just removed my badge today because I loved how "chik" it looked when I saw it IRL the other day... Here is a photo of my bare butt

It may be counter-culture, but I would only de-badge a high-end model suchas the M, so as not attract attention (those who know one would know it anyways and the rest .....).

So no, I would not debadge, especially not in reaction to a new model. Who cares if 325 become 328 etc. I am not ashamed of my choice.

That 's just my opinion, of course, those who do it for esthetic reasons have just as valid a point.

debadging gives it a cleaner look, its not so you can hide what car you are driving. there are more other ways to tell what model e90 it is than the emblem.

This poll should be separated into 325 and 330 owners, because i think that most 325 owners would debadge vs. 330 owners

debadging solely for looks, not for fear of being one-upped by a 335i or anything

Actually, I wouldn't want my car de-badged, but I had no choice since the factory incorrectly badged it as a325Xi.

So I have a de-badged car courtesy of the factory.

I saw a dedaged e90 the other day with modified clear tail lights. At first glance, from a distance, I thought I was coming up on a honda. As I got closer I noticed the BMW Roundel and realized it was an e90. And as I passed I saw it was a young kid behind the wheel... the license plate should have read "thanks dad"

I think debaging is personal preference & it wouldn't have looked bad alone. But be careful if you are going to add new tail lights along with debadging... then you risk looking like a kid driving a tuner.
