Sell E90 for MB E350?
Hey all,
I love my E90 and BMW's in general, for the sport + comfort (had a E46 M3 and 330i SP prior). However, I have an oppty to pick up a brand new 06 E350 w\prem pack for a great deal (cheaper than my E90, under $450 mo with tax and DP). My bro wants to buy my E90 330i, SP, manual, leather, het seats, tit silver, for $34k so I could dump it. The E350 is a nice cruiser, super comfortable, relaxing driver. I drive my 330i for the sport aspect with 4 doors, plus can take it to the track a couple times per year. I'm concerned I'll get bored of the benz and be stuck in a lease (27 mos), then end up taking a loss to dump it. I know they're different cars, but they're about the same price (actually the benz is cheaper) so any opinions? I know its my decision, blah blah, but just curious of what you all think.... Yeah, I know, life is tough around here |

My friend recently got an E350...but he got his fullllyyyy loaded to his monthly was significantly higher.
However, I must say I loved that car. Very nice torquey engine, smooth, comfortable cruiser. If you're looking for a luxury cruiser, it's awesome. |

The C class just doesn't do it for me.... very nice interior, but the outside looks is just kinda blah.

E350 looks good and is more comfortable than e90 330. However, I wouldn't believe it's better than the Lexus ES350. I test drove the Lexus ES350 and it's very comfortable. I also rode the Merc E350 with my friend (loaded for $63k) and felt the car was overpriced. If not about the brand concern, I would pick the Lexus for at least $25k cheaper.
Back to your question, hell no...I wouldn't want to give up my 330i for the E350.

If I am to do it again, I wont get them, for it was never a fun car to drive plus resell value is a little lower compared to BMW . The only way I would go back is if its an AMG (cabrio). I say you will not be happy with a regular E320, unless you are really fed up of driving a fun spirited car and now at the age you that strickly want comfort and luxury.

i would ONLY consider the merc e350 if i don't mid autos, would prefer more rear room on a regular basis and i don't mind 'looking older'.
why not take the e60 530i instead with manual stick? the latest e class looks very boring to me, shape and design is less dynamic than the e90, e60. the other thing, i hate about the new e class is the 'old daddy 'image. i feel like the motoring public feels that i have aged 20yrs more than my current age and become 'pot bellied 'when i am driving a e class. guess it is the image thing. e class mercs are no longer fashionable locally. the 5 series is the way to go if u want a bigger car. the 5 series and the 3 series have aways trounced the e clas and the class since time immemorial. only the s class can still take on the 7 series. |

There's no way in hell you could get an e60 530i 6mt for $450 a month lease. You can't even get a bone stock 525i for that much with a reasonable down payment. They're practically give E350's away right now with their 27 month lease programs. |

I was thinking about leasing one of those, but I couldnt imagine myself driving it. It's for people 30+. I guess if you can imagine yourself being in the car then by all means go for it.

I had a W211 E-class for 2 years and what can I say...it's a comfortable car..
The one I had was a first production year and they are known for their electrical faults. It spent more time at the dealer than in my garage. With the new facelift model the word goes they surpressed the problems. It has a beautiful luxury interior, it's just over here in Europe it seems that every second one of them is sold as a taxi. So that's the name they have here: "Cab" |

If you've had an M3 - you will have had to 'grow up' quite a lot to appreciate the benz. I think you might get bored. What prompted you to check it out anyway - must have been some frustration with your car ? That's probably the key to the decision. |

Having spent much time with my fathers e500, I would say the E class is a wonderful cruiser. The ride is second to none, it has decent road feel and handling, and the 350 has enough pep to be enjoyable if not thrilling. However, you have recognized the big concern (other than reliability, which is a big problem with current E-class) -- boredom. Outside of the AMG cars and their monster torque, or perhaps the new SLK, MB cars are not fun to drive or engaging like BMWs are. IF you enjoy the driving experience, you will get bored in the E-class (take it from me -- I switched from 12 years of BMWs to a C-class sport a few years ago, and I'm so bored I'm switching back soon). That being said, if you feel like you are tired of getting beat up by the BMW's tighter suspension, the E will be a welcome change. There is no doubt the E has a nicer ride and more luxurious interior than an E46. It is also a more mature car. Image wise, E46 says "I'm young and drive fast to get where I'm going so look out!", while E Class says more understatedly "I've already arrived". All a matter of perference. |

A friend of mine had a loaded E400CDI and nothing but trouble: - horrible Brakes, he bumped in a car, stopping at a red light, absolutely no response. - faulty parameter steering (dangerous) - finally engine blew up riding at 200 km/h, 20.000 km on odo. It was his first and last Mercedes, always drove BMW before. He managed to give that POS back to the dealer and got himself an e60 535d. Zero problems so far. |
